Student Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures:
Rocky Run Families,
Student safety is our priority. Due to colder temperatures and precipitation, we have seen increased volume in the drop off circle, as well as many students who are being dropped of in unsafe locations, and arriving after 7:30.
This morning we experienced additional traffic back ups as many drivers did not follow the procedures outlined below. Please review the information below ahead of dismissal today and help us ensure all students arrive and dismiss safely.
**Please note that students who arrive to class after the 7:30 AM bell are marked tardy.**
Kiss and Ride at RRMS was designed by FCPS Safety and Transportation staff to ensure the safety of students and drivers. Please follow the directions of the staff members who are outside to ensure Kiss and Ride pick up and drop off runs smoothly. Drop off and pick up inside the designated area only to maintain traffic flow and ensure student safety.
We encourage families to drop students off as early as 7:05 or pick up at 2:30 to avoid traffic delays. Please do not park in the traffic circle. Students who arrive after 7:30 AM are marked tardy regardless of Kiss and Ride traffic delays.

- When using the circle, pull as far forward as possible in the Kiss and Ride zone to maintain traffic flow. Students exit from the passenger side of the car and will walk around the sidewalk to door 1.
- Please do not drop your student off before the Kiss and Ride zone, in the roundabout off of Poplar Tree Road, or on the side of the roadway.
- The parking lot is not designated for student drop off or pick up. Students may not cross the parking lot and will be directed to wait for their ride in front of the school.
-
Do not make u-turns when not allowed, only make a left turn into the 2nd entrance from Poplar Tree.
-
Please be observant and listen to the directions given by staff/crossing guard. Students are directed to cross intersections in groups as a safety measure.
We are grateful for your partnership and support to keep all students, staff and drivers safe!
