Young Authors’ Night - Thurs. 2/9 from 6 - 7pm @ SLES

Please join the SLES community in A Celebration of Young Authors!

Starting at 6pm, have your students escort you through the hallways and classroom displays, participate in the evening by completing a giant mad lib at the end of Hallway C, suggest a word for the Wondrous Word Wall by Door 4, and write a letter in the Reading Room or a poem in the Library.

As your final activity, stop by the cafeteria for a sweet treat and view photos of young authors at work!

** Desserts Needed! Young Authors’ Night Dessert Potluck **

The PTA is organizing a dessert potluck table in the cafeteria to help our authors celebrate with a yummy treat!  If you would like to contribute please sign up here: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/987002739732704059/false#/invitation

Spelling Bee Judges Needed! - Mon. 2/27 @ 6pm

We are in need of 3 judges for the school-wide spelling bee on 2/27 at 6pm.  Training will be provided.  Please email Kim John if you are interested in being a judge at volunteers@slpta.org

Lost and Found - Please Label Items!

SLES plans to donate all Lost and Found items at the end of each month. If items (jackets, hats, scarves, water bottles, etc.) are labeled with a student name, the school can try to return those items to your student once it turns up in Lost & Found. Students will also know which items belong to them when looking through the Lost and Found.

Snack Reminder

As a reminder, please send your student to school with a snack every day, if able to do so. The PTA supports our school with snack purchases for when a student forgets their snack or is unable to bring a snack to school.

Care & Share Needs:

Please place donations in the red bins outside of the front office.

* Youth XL winter jackets

* Boys size 4T underwear

Got Talent? D3 Showcase Co-Chair Needed!

The PTA is searching for a volunteer to join our D3 Showcase team as co-chair.  This individual will lead the talent show planning and day of coordination with current co-chair Holly Ferry.  The talent show is being scheduled for March/April.  Please email Kimberly John at volunteers@slpta.org if interested.

Library Volunteer Help Wanted

Did you know students checked out over 7,000 books during the month of September?  Ms. Snow, our fantastic school librarian, is looking for daily volunteer assistance to check in and shelf returned books and assist K through 2 with book checkout. Please consider signing up for a time slot (or several) using the Signup link below -- there are slots each day of the week.  A volunteer background check is NOT required to help in the library.
