LCES Updates 1/6/23: After School Activities, Design Contests, and more!

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! This week we were happy to welcome back our staff and students for the first week of 2023.

This time of year provides us all an opportunity to reflect and share our hopes for the future. We are excited to continue doing great things at Lees Corner as we enter this new calendar year.  Special thanks to school staff, PTA, and families for joining us and for making our fall events possible!  The PTA provides many wonderful opportunities to connect and support our school community!

We are thrilled to continue expanding our family engagement opportunities this winter and spring and look forward to sharing these upcoming events with you. We know 2023 has many great things in store for all of us.

First Grade students publish a book

Published Authors

In the fall, every 1st grade student wrote and illustrated a story about one of their family's traditions. The teachers then had the stories published in a book entitled, Our Family Traditions. We are so proud of our student authors!

You can see a copy of the book on display in the office.

Stress Management & Coping Skills

Learning how to manage stress early in life could be a major factor in whether or not a young person decides to use drugs. Learn how goal setting can improve family relationships in this article.

FCPS is dedicated to providing parents and community members with the most accurate and up-to-date information on youth substance use, prevention, addiction, interventions and available supports. Please join us and our partners from the Fairfax County Police Department and Community Services Board as we discuss these topics as well as the ongoing opioid crisis. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of:

  • Alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, and opioid.
  • List what you can do as a caregiver.
  • How to identify and connect with community resources.
