Happy Holidays and New Year

Kilmer Community,

We had a fun end to 2022 at Kilmer with Spirit Week. I’ve included pictures for every “theme” from everyday this week, and I hope you enjoy seeing the way our staff and students dressed up.

We began this week honoring Kilmer’s Outstanding Employees. Staff members were nominated for various categories by other staff members, students, and parents. Our Instructional Leadership Team used a rubric to score each nominee based on the criteria for each category, and our winners were honored at a faculty meeting. The faculty and staff at Kilmer do amazing work to support kids every single day. At the faculty meeting I asked the entire staff to submit a response to this question, “Who’s one person at Kilmer that should be celebrated and recognized, and why?” It was inspiring to read all the responses, and I was able to distribute these responses to the appropriate recipient.

In that spirit, I’d like to ask the Kilmer community to take a few minutes and send a quick email to a teacher or staff member who has made an impact on your child and/or family. As we wrap up 2022 this is a great way to recognize the outstanding people at Kilmer.

Lastly, after 16 years at Kilmer Mercedes Rasmussen, administrative assistant, is retiring. She has been such a positive force to so many people through the years. We wish her the best on her next adventure!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season, and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2023!

As always, reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Steven McFarlane

Kiss and Ride Reminders:

If you drive your student to school, please take a few minutes to note the following:

  1. Students must get out on the sidewalk, not in the parking lot, this is to ensure their safety.
  2. Be courteous of others and use all available doors to keep the line moving.
  3. If you drop your student on Wolftrap road do not make u-turns across the double lines; you may be ticketed.
  4. Take your time; safety is everyone's concern.
