Winter Break (Student holiday)- December 19 - January 2
We want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season!
As a reminder, winter break will be held Monday, December 19 through Monday, January 2. We look forward to welcoming students back in the new year. Classes resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.
Our main office will be closed during winter break, yet we will monitor our voicemail on our main telephone number of 703-313-4000 for any pertinent messages. Please feel free to reach out should you or your family have any needs. We know life doesn’t take vacations, feel free to call and see if we can assist you. We will be back in the office January 3, 2023.
Thank You Families for Your Support of Our Staff
We are grateful for the snacks and supplies that families contributed to support our staff this week. We have enjoyed a visit from the treat cart, an early morning hot chocolate bar, and more. We feel so appreciated- thank you!
Holiday Giving Option
 We know that many families like to show their appreciation for teachers and staff with a gift around the holiday season. We are offering an option for holiday giving, using a service called GiftCrowd. You will be able to use this GiftCrowd page to leave a note and a gift for any staff member who has made a difference to your family. The list includes all teachers and staff at Key Center, so you can give to as many people as you’d like, all in one place.
We are hoping this will be easier for all involved, and that gift recipients will benefit from one larger group gift that they can choose how to use. Staff members will be able to redeem their gifts from one or more gift cards (including Amazon, Target, Walmart, or hundreds of others). GiftCrowd does not charge any fees to either gift buyers or gift receivers - It is free to use.
Participation is completely optional. The receiver will see the names of people who contribute, but will only see the grand total of money contributed-not the individual contributions.
The deadline to contribute is Thursday, Dec. 15th at 10pm. All gifts will be emailed to teachers and staff that evening. Please contact Beth Curtis (becurtis@fcps.edu) if you have questions about the use of GiftCrowd for holiday giving.
COVID Diagnostic Testing in January
 Mark your calendars! COVID diagnostic testing will be available for FCPS teachers, staff, and students at five Fairfax County locations from January 3-5 between the hours of 5 to 8 p.m. This testing is for those who are either experiencing COVID symptoms or have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID. Appointments are not required, but registration must be completed before testing. Visit the COVID Testing webpage for more information.

This week’s Key Center Staff Spotlight is on Johanna Isani. We would like to congratulate Johanna on her retirement at the end of this month! She has worked as an English for Speaker of Other Languages (ESOL) Teacher at Key Center for the last six years. Visit the Staff Spotlight on our school website to learn more about Johanna Isani and her plans for her retirement. Thank you Johanna for your efforts to positively impact our students!

Social Emotional Wellness Programming
Our students have been enjoying visits from ZamDance/ZamMovement Inc. This non-profit organization is run by Jackie Zamora and focuses on helping students with intellectual and developmental differences, gain self-esteem, confidence, focus and experience happiness. The students love the opportunities for dance and movement.
