Principal's Message

Dear Brookfield Families,

This week teachers planned an assortment of winter themed activities to send students off for winter break: snowmen crafts, gingerbread cookies, and class parties with lots of DELICIOUS food! We also got to hear the lovely voices of our 5th and 6th grade chorus singing some of our favorite winter tunes. What a festive week!

Throughout the week, Broncos were joyful  and kind to one another. We hope they will carry this joy home and spread it throughout the holiday season.

Enjoy your time together and we will see you in the New Year!

CCT

This month's Critical and Creative routine highlighted was the technique of questioning. Questioning is actively clarifying, exploring, challenging, and assessing the understanding of ideas. Students who take responsibility for asking their own questions become more productive and engaged in their learning processes.

For more information on Critical and Creative Thinking routines please visit our FCPS site here.

Portrait of a Graduate Skills

Marshmallow Tower

In STEAM students have been working on their collaboration skills. Good collaborators share their ideas and respectfully listen to the ideas of others.

In our marshmallow tower challenge, students had to use the engineering design process to create a tower using 25 marshmallows and 25 toothpicks. They then had to share their ideas with their peers in order to collaborate and come up with one combined solution.

For more information regarding Portrait of a Graduate please here.
