100 Career Wins!
BRUINS ON TRACK
The Bruins Track and Field Squad had a great JV Opener at TJMS on Friday night, followed by a Varsity Meet at Woodson on Saturday. A fresh new squad competed at TJMS, with a notable performance by Bradley Rockefeller winning his heat in the mile.
On Saturday, our two boys 4 x 800 teams took first and second place, and the Lady Bruins also took first. Tim Ryan took second in Pole Vault with an 11'6" PR, and Maya Daniels took 6th with a 6'6" PR. Madi Lewis dominated the 1k, and kicked off the girls 4x400 with an impressive performance. Christian Bachmann won the mile, and Nelson Lattimer came in 2nd in the 1k.
Tori Junius dominated jumps taking first in both long and triple. Claire Aponte and Mikal Berhe both had big PRs in the 2 mile, with Claire taking first, and Trey Riley placed second in a fast 2 mile on the boys side.
There were many other strong performances, including Maddie Hood and Kevin Dermody, who each won their heats for the mile and 500 respectively.
LAKE BRADDOCK DEBATE TEAM
The LB Debate team split its members to attend two tournaments, the first time we have done this since 2018.
At the WACFL Student Congress Tournament at Rock Ridge High School, Freshman Cameron Shurer was the Top Novice in his House. Juniors Rebecca Weingast and Dila Arat also represented Lake Braddock.
At the GMU Patriot Games Tournament, a major national circuit invitational hosted at GMU each year, five members of our team debated against debaters from all over the United States. At the end of the day, they acquitted themselves well.
Senior Caleb Sharman placed fourth in the tournament's Student Congress competition, earning a 1/2 invitation to the prestigious Tournament of Champions invitational at the University of Kentucky later in the spring.
Junior Caley Nee was a Semi-Finalist in the Student Congress event.
Junior Anwesha "Trina" Choudhury advanced to the Octa-Final round of Lincoln-Douglas Debate, placing 9th overall. She was also the tournament's top speaker, scoring 148.5 points out of a possible maximum score of 150 points.
Sophomore Erina Haque advanced to the Double-Octa Final Round of Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and finished in the top 25 debaters overall.
Sophomore Sarah Terwilliger also represented the team in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Overall, Lake Braddock, with only five team members present, placed 18th overall out of the 36 schools present.
VARSITY SWIM & DIVE
Congratulations to Josh Howat who broke a 26 year school record in the 100 free!
Congratulations to Liam Miller (UVA commit) on breaking his previous LB Dive record of 314.35 with a score of 324.1 in the season opening meet!
LB VARSITY WRESTLING
The Bruins wrestled in the 32 team NOVA Classic this weekend. The team finished 7th with 2 Champions, Korlan Tran at 106 lbs. and Lucas Matheny at 175 lbs. Three other wrestlers placed top 8 in their weight class.
VARSITY GYMNASTICS
Congratulations LB Gymnastics on winning their opening meet with a tremendous score of 147.925! Huge shout out to Madi Bell for winning all-around and breaking the record for Bars with a 9.8!

Calling all Sneakerheads!!! Got Sneakers?? We Need them! Join in supporting the Lake Braddock Track Team by donating your old sneakers for recycling! We have partnered with a non-profit called Got Sneakers, to collect used sneakers and make a global impact. Did you know at least 200 million sneakers find their way into US landfills every year? Let's make a difference together and clean out those closets to make room for new kicks!
To help, please place your sneakers (we are not accepting shoes or sandals only sneakers) for donation in a bag and drop them off in the box in the Student Activities Office. Write your name on the list of donors with the number of pairs of sneakers you dropped off and you will be entered to win a prize!
