There will not be a PTA meeting this month. Please join us on Zoom for our January PTA Meeting on Tuesday, January 17th, from 7-8pm. A link will be sent out on the day of the meeting. We hope that you can join us virtually. Have a wonderful winter break!

December Dining For Dollars:
12/15 @ Panera Bread
Panera is supporting Thoreau Middle School through our 2022 Dining for Dollars events. 20% of sales will go directly to the school, so plan to pick up some delicious sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts THIS Thursday, December 15th, from 4-8pm (136 Maple Avenue, Vienna, VA 22180)
To place an online order, go to panerabread.com and enter code FUND4U at checkout. If you order in person, please show them the digital flyer and mention Thoreau Middle School to make sure the school gets credit for your order.

Cookies for Thoreau Teachers, Staff & Bus Drivers
Ready?! BAKE!!!
It's time to bake cookies for our wonderful Thoreau staff. This is a great way to show your appreciation while sharing your favorite recipe. Students can earn up to 4 service hours (see details in Sign Up Genius). We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day of the event, Thursday, December 15th. All cookies need to be bagged 2 cookies per bag (or 3-4 if they are small). If you need small bags they can be provided and picked up in the front office this week.

It's Time to "BEE" Amazing!

All students are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Introducing:
Thoreau's Family Book Club
Spend some time snuggled up with a book this winter and participate in Thoreau’s Family Book Club—PIZZA AND A PAPERBACK!
Join us on Thursday, February 16 for the first meeting of the Thoreau MS Family Book Club. We will be reading Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds, a terrific collection of short stories set in a middle school. Sound like fun?
Complete this Google Form (https://tinyurl.com/2628wktw) by January 6 to let us know you will attend the February Club meeting. We’ll get a book to students to take home by January 13.
Thank you to Ms. Finn (head librarian), Ms. Griffin (8th grade English), and Ms. McNiff (Reading Specialist) for starting this community book club. The PTA is proud to support Pizza and a Paperback by providing pizza for the first meeting!
