Outstanding Staff

Congratulations to our 22-23 WSES winners, Ms. Vila (Outstanding Teacher), Mr. Reid (Outstanding New Teacher), and Ms. Hassen (Outstanding Leader).  #WillowPride

Dear Willow families,

December is a time for celebration as we prepare for Winter Break and the New Year. Celebration comes in many shapes and sizes, and we hope you take the time to celebrate your child's successes thus far. They may have met a new friend, reached an academic milestone, or earned special recognition. Whatever that success may be, we encourage you to celebrate in a way that will continue to inspire our children to take risks and strive to reach their potential.

We are proud to celebrate our children, day in and day out. Our children have shown up each day ready to learn, have fun, and build relationships with one another throughout the school day.

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the holidays by participating in our Spirit Week, sponsored by our WSES SCA. Check out the image below to find the theme for each day, and remember to tweet your photos.

As always, thank you for your partnership. We are grateful for such a wonderful community.

Thank you,

Dylan Taylor, Principal

Lesley Hassen, Assistant Principal

Ipsa Stringer, Assistant Principal

What's happening at Willow Springs?

Winter Concert

Our Advanced Band and 5th and 6th-grade Chorus evening concert was hugely successful! Thank you to the families who came out and sang with us!

Staff Spirit

WSES staff show off their festive spirit during the faculty's Days of Cheer.

Willow Wonderland

Kudos to our front office ladies and additional staff members for creating a fabulous Willow Wonderland for all our Willow Family to see!  #WillowPride

3rd grade STEAM Blankets

Our 3rd-grade classes created no-sew fleece blankets during Ms. Maltese's STEAM lessons. Students used text and video evidence to determine a problem, and they used Legos to determine the area and perimeter of their blankets. WSES will donate all blankets to a local homeless shelter.

Free, On-Demand, Online Tutoring

Tutor

Join our WSES students and try out this great resource. We currently have the highest number of attended sessions in our elementary pyramid.

FCPS students who’ve used Tutor.com have provided positive feedback:

  • “This tutor was very helpful! She didn't tell me the answers. When needed, she helped me solve them! She was very kind and she really helped me!” –Elementary Math Student
  • “This was an awesome tutor! She explained why I needed to do specific steps, and she gave me practice problems! Best tutor I have had!” –IB Chemistry Student

Unless they’ve been opted out, students can access Tutor.com through Schoology. Every session is personalized to meet students’ needs from remedial to advanced levels. Sessions focus on conceptual learning and critical thinking—not quick answers.
