As we head into Winter Break, we want to wish our Kings Glen community a wonderful and restful time with their friends and families! Please note that the Kings Glen Office will be closed during Winter Break.

Winter Concert Time
Kings Glen is happy and excited to be having in person Winter Concerts this year! Here is the schedule for the concerts and rehearsals. Please make sure every participating Band and Strings student brings their instrument and music to school on these days!
Wednesday, December 14:
- Chorus Rehearsal (9:15-10 a.m.)
- Chorus/Strings Daytime School Assembly (10:15-11:00 AM)
- Chorus/Strings Evening Concert (6:30 PM - Call Time 6:00 PM)
Thursday December 15:
- Advanced Band Call Time (9:15 a.m.)
- Band School Daytime School Assembly (10:00-10:30 AM)
- Band Evening Concert (6:30 PM - Call Time 6:00 PM)

Reminder: Window for AAP Full-Time (Level IV) Referrals Ends December 15, 2022
Parents/guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time advanced academic programs (level IV AAP services) may submit the AAP Level IV Referral Form to Lisa Rode no later than December 15.
The window to submit an AAP Level IV Referral Form is the first day of school through December 15, annually. Forms for full-time and part-time referrals are available on the AAP Forms Page. No late referrals for Level IV services can be accepted.
Submitting a referral form for AAP Level IV will initiate a process that begins at the local school and is then completed at the central office level. Our school will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data which are considered holistically. At the central office level, a committee of professionals from various schools review materials to determine eligibility for level IV placement. Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Parents may request a copy of the portfolio that was submitted after they have been turned in for central selection by emailing Lisa Rode.
Referrals for AAP Levels II-III (part-time services) are screened at the local school.

6th Grade Class T-Shirt Contest
Submissions Due Friday, January 27, 2023
Kings Glen 6th grade students are welcome to submit designs for their class t-shirts. All entries must have student’s name and homeroom teacher’s name on the back. Please submit designs to Mrs. Fitzgerald by January 27th. (More Information)

COVID Diagnostic Testing in January
Mark your calendars! COVID diagnostic testing will be available for FCPS teachers, staff, and students at five locations across the county January 3-5, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. This testing is for those who are either experiencing COVID symptoms or have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID. Appointments are not required, but registration must be completed before testing. Visit the COVID Testing webpage for more information.

Speaker Rachel Bailey returns on Thursday, January 12th at 7PM for a virtual session on tips for handling screen time with more peace. We will also hold a quick PTA meeting before the presentation to discuss plans for the extra funds raised during our highly successful Booster.
