Hive Happenings - Special Edition - Upcoming Fence Installation

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We wanted to share the news that Stenwood Elementary has been approved to add a fence to increase safety for students on our playground. The fence will run at the top of the slope along the back of the playground, take a slight turn, and then run parallel to the sidewalk on the school side of the pine trees.

In an effort to be good neighbors, the fence will not completely block access to school grounds, as we recognize that the edges of our property serve as a critical pedestrian path to access Gallows Road and the Metro station. What it will do is move those pedestrians further away from where our students are actively playing, and funnel them through one specific path.

Below is a map with the approximate location of the fence.

Work is expected to begin next week and the playground will be closed for several days during the completion of the project. We expect the work to be completed before the students return from winter break.

Thank you for supporting our school in being a safe place for students to learn and being good neighbors to our community. If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
