PTA Updates

Join the Twain PTA!

Your membership dues fund a variety of programs throughout the year.

Attention: There will be no PTA General Membership meeting for this month (November) and December. The MTMS PTA Board wishes you and yours a happy & healthy holiday season!

November 30th is Mark Twain’s Birthday…and we need your help! A fun tradition at Mark Twain Middle School is the annual observance of Mark Twain’s birthday, where every student and faculty member are given a cupcake in celebration!

Please sign up here to donate cupcakes for our celebration. With over 1,100 students at Twain, we are in need of a lot of cupcakes! Homemade or store-bought cupcakes are fine, and all flavors are welcome! We do have a need for allergen free cupcakes (ex: nut free, dairy free, or gluten free); please make sure to clearly label these cupcakes to prevent cross-contamination.

Cupcakes may be dropped off during Kiss N Ride that morning (we will have volunteers ready to accept them from the Kiss N Ride line) or they may be dropped off in the main office by 10:15AM on the 30th.

Volunteers are also needed to help distribute cupcakes during lunches. Upon arrival at the school, please sign in at the main office and proceed to the school cafeteria.

Thank you for helping with this fun Twain tradition!!

Parent Advocacy Handbook

The Minority Student Achievement Oversight Committee (MSAOC) has created a Parent Advocacy Handbook to provide information and support to families as they navigate the FCPS system for their children. It is designed to be particularly useful for families who may be less familiar with such a large school division and/or with schooling in the U.S.

The MSAOC Parent Advocacy Handbook can be found at this link. It is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Korean.
