Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving - beautiful flowers from our own Churchill Road gardens.

Dear Churchill Families,

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving break, we remain grateful for our Churchill Road family - students, staff and parents. We appreciate the sense of community and caring that is so much a part of the fabric of this school.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our community for its support and endless energy.  We especially want to thank all who supported our recent food packing event!  More than 250 meals were prepared for those in need. We are incredibly grateful to our PTA for organizing this event.

Our school would not be as successful as it is without the limitless efforts that are spent to support our staff and school programs. We are thankful for your generosity and encouragement!

We wish you a happy and restful Thanksgiving holiday.

With thanks from the Churchill Road staff,

Mrs. Pierson-Barr and Ms. Niccolls

Bobcat Meal Assembly Event a Huge Success!

hunger

Way to go, Bobcats! Last week, many of our 1st, 3rd, and 6th graders assembled meals for students in our area who need extra help to get food on the weekends. They made 250 meals! Thanks also to the SGA, which donated $100 toward providing food supplies, and to the PTA Community Service committee for putting together this great event. Bobcats Rock!! Next spring the 2nd, 4th, and 5th graders get to have their meal packing event, and we can’t wait to see what they can do.

Thank You for a Fabulous Mediterranean Luncheon!

Parent Advocacy Handbook

The Parent Advocacy Handbook is for parents and guardians -- a child’s first teacher and advocate. The handbook contains answers to the many questions parents may have about the school system and how they can best advocate for their student at the various stages of their school experience.

The Parent Advocacy Handbook was created by the Minority Student Achievement Oversight Committee (MSAOC), a Fairfax County School Board advisory committee, and produced with the support of the Board. Interested families may access this handbook in English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and Korean at: https://www.fcps.edu/parentadvocacyhandbook

FLE Community Review

Last year, the Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee (FLECAC), made several recommendations to the School Board.  These recommendations would change the content and how instruction of Human Growth and Development (HGD) is delivered in grades 4-8.  Information on the FLECAC recommendations are available on the FLE Community Review Website

Community members, staff, students, and parents are invited to share their input using the Feedback form on their website no later than December 1, 2022.  If you have any questions about the FLECAC recommendations you are welcome to reach out to the Health and Physical Education office at 571-423-4550 or fle@fcps.edu
