What We're Learning:

Pre-K students have been learning to listen as they enjoy a read aloud.

Kindergarten and 1st grade has been learning about parts of a book, fiction call numbers, and paying attention to colors and characters in a story.

Second and third graders have been learning about finding good fit numbers, fiction call numbers, and paying attention to colors and characters in a story.

Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders have been learning about the different databases and how they help us find information.

Total number of books checked out:

4,820 in September

5,080 in October

Reminder:

Students may take books home. Consider having them start with one book they get to take home. While there is always the concern of books not being returned, we will be continuing to reinforce responsibility and care of books. It would be great to give all students the opportunity to practice these things!

Book Fair

Get excited for our book fair that will be coming toward the end of this month! The official book fair will be held from November 28-December 2

This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy. Cash will still be accepted. All purchases will be taxed.

If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Advanced Academic Program

Parents/guardians of students in Grades 2-7 can refer their child to be screened for the full-time Advanced Academic Programs Level IV AAP services by submitting the AAP Level IV Referral Form to Hybla Elementary School by December 15, 2022.

Please note this program is intended for students who demonstrate advanced academic capabilities when compared to current peers in their academic setting.

After an AAP Level IV Referral Form is turned in to the local school create a file with information about the student. The completed file is then sent for County Wide screening to determine eligibility for the program for the following school year.

The power point shared during the AAP Parent Information Meeting held in October of 2022 at Hybla Valley E.S. sharing information about the AAP Level IV Program is available in English and Spanish.

For further questions or to send the AAP Level IV referral online please Vickie Tyquiengco, the Advanced Academics Resource Teacher at vltyquiengco@fcps.edu
