Thanksgiving Break is upon us! There is no school Wednesday, November 23-Friday, November 25. We are thankful for our wonderful Parklawn family every day of the year! Happy Thanksgiving!
We are thankful for you! As we look forward to the Thanksgiving break from 11/23-11/25, we are grateful for everyone who has helped to establish a routine for coming to school every day and on time. Please note that we DO have school on Monday 11/21 and Tuesday 11/22 this week.
Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security. As long as your child is healthy, please be sure they are at school. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as connect to peers and their teachers.
We are thankful for our students and their families who do their best to show up to school every day even when it isn’t easy. May these days off be restful and healing. We look forward to seeing you again when school resumes on Monday 11/28.
Don’t forget -- Dr. Michelle Reid, FCPS superintendent, will host a Community Conversation at Justice High School on November 21 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. or Annandale High School on Tuesday, November 29 from 6:30-7:30. Language interpretation will be provided, as available, as well as child care and light refreshments. If you plan to attend, please register today. Please join Parklawn’s Wellness Team in person for an evening of learning. We will share what it means to be a Responsive Classroom school and our school wide approach to teaching and discipline. We will also discuss logical consequences and how you can implement them at home. We look forward to seeing you there!

One of Parklawn’s favorite annual events is here! Join us for Snuggle Up and Read Night on Wednesday, December 7 from 6:30-8 pm! Parents and students are invited to spend a fun evening reading with family and Parklawn friends while enjoying cookies and juice. Wear your pajamas, bring a cozy blanket or stuffed animal and snuggle up and read or listen to stories. We will have guests reading in English and other languages. Discover ways to support your students as readers. Every student will receive a book to take home! |
