Principal's Message

Happy Cool Friday,

Fall has flown in with frigid mornings and cold evenings! But this time of year also means great fun at KJMS. This past week, our Fairfax Pyramid Choral Program was a great success! Our singers raised a collaborative voice that entertained many families and friends as the cool winds blew outside. Tonight and tomorrow, you can stay warm and see the hard work our of theater arts program with the KJMS debut of “Stinky Cheeseman” each night at 7 PM. There are a few tickets available, so act quickly and be prepared to be amazed!

We are also sharing some pictures of a donation to our KJMS Food and Hygiene Pantry. Here is the information on this program, both how to access and donate. Angie Nickisch, club manager for the Fairfax City 4H Community Club, dropped off food donation for KJMS Food Pantry after the 4H kids completed a food drive. We thank them for their generosity, time, and effort. Our students will benefit greatly!

As we approach our short two-day week next week, we wanted to thank you for the wonderful Eagles that you send to KJMS each day. It is an honor that we are able to partner with you in educating Eagles during these two short years of middle school. Each day, our teachers and staff are so thankful that you entrust your most precious family members to our care so that we can play a small part in their education. We are inspired by the growth and accomplishments of our Eagles during this time together. Thank YOU for your partnership and enjoy this time of thanksgiving with your families and friends this season.

With holidays approaching, we know you may want to thank your student's teachers.  What better way to do it than gifting them one of their favorite gift cards or any you would like to purchase for them. Here is the link to see the list of favorite gift cards for each of our staff members. To find a staff, press CTRL + F (Find) and type staff's name and it will go directly to the staff member's name. This is separate from what the PTA is doing.

Stay warm,

Tammy Silipigni

Strategic Planning

Opportunities to Participate in the Strategic Planning Process

FCPS is offering a number of opportunities for parents/caregivers to be involved in the Strategic Planning process! Check out two immediate options below:

Nominate Yourself or Someone Else for the Family Team

We are currently seeking nominations for parents/caregivers who are interested in contributing to Strategic Plan development as part of the Family Team. This team will represent the rich diversity of families that make up FCPS’ community, and will focus on identifying engagement and outreach practices that will improve our partnerships with families.

If you are interested in being part of the Family Team or would like to nominate someone else, please fill out this form by Tuesday, November 22.

Be a Key Communicator!

If you are a member of a community organization or group, consider signing up to be a key communicator during the strategic planning process. FCPS key communicators are active members of the community who people turn to for information, and have an interest in sharing information about the school division and encouraging involvement. If this describes you or someone you know, please get the details and complete this form by Monday, November 28.

This recognition means that VDOE has approved a plan to improve student learning, educational performance, and college, career, and citizenship readiness skills. It positions FCPS as a state leader in innovative practices with the opportunity to impact statewide policy decisions. Watch Dr. Reid’s presentation.
