Good evening, Eagles,
Happy Veteran’s Day and thank you to those who served our country so honorably. Your dedication and loyalty to our country will never go unnoticed. Additionally, we would like to thank our military families who have made many sacrifices in support of our country.
This week we had another very successful Career Day! We want to thank everyone who took time out of their day to join us and shared their experiences and expertise in the field. We had a wide range of careers join us this year including a voice actress, a US Marshall, a Sheriff’s Deputy, a couple librarians, a few business owners, a safety specialist and a pilot! All of the students who signed up to learn from the florist walked away with their own floral arrangement with a vase! I also wanted to extend a special thank you to our colleagues from Falls Church and Chantilly Academy and the Davis Career Center who brought ambassadors and students from their programs to speak to our students.
We were also very honored to host State Superintendent Jillian Balow to KJMS, who was able to pop into a few sessions to listen and observe. If you look closely, you may see her in the photo collage! Thank you to the committee members who helped make this day a success.
Lastly, I’d like to leave you with a video that Superintendent Dr. Reid recorded for our students and thank her for taking the time to impress the importance of Career Day.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Friday Oeur,
School Counselor and Career Day Committee Member

In an annual planning process, FCPS uses input from the community to help develop the school year calendar for the following year. The Calendar Survey will be sent to parents/caregivers, FCPS employees, and students in grades 7-12 next week.
Our framework for creating the calendar is available online to ensure transparency, as we work to build a calendar that is inclusive and equitable.
Robotics club at Fairfax High School. Our students will be offering a virtual workshop to middle school students in Basic Java and Advanced Java coding. They are doing this as their fundraiser for buying supplies to build their Robot and pay competition fees. We could use your help to advertise the workshop.
