A reminder that the 5th annual Career Experience Expo will be all day, this Wednesday, November 9th.
Students who are attending all day should enter through Door #10, dress in professional dress, and are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. Students must attend the sessions they signed up for. Attendance will be taken throughout the day!
Students who are only attending during their regular class should check Schoology for the location their class is meeting that day. Drivers and shuttle riders from feeder schools should enter through Door #10.
Ms. Tarvid grew up in Southwest Virginia. She has a varied background in customer service and program management, most recently serving in early childhood education administration at a preschool in Fairfax. She has an undergraduate degree in social sciences from Radford University and a Master’s in Library Science from San Jose State University.
Ms. Tarvid's passion is to support her team and help them to be successful. She joined the Academy in April and is excited to be part of helping students connect to opportunities to learn, grow, and become!

Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a Fairfax High School Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through this Google form.
You may nominate an employee in one or more categories. All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The google form link has more information regarding the criteria and eligibility requirements for each of these awards. The categories are:
- Outstanding Teacher
- Outstanding New Teacher
- Outstanding Leader
- Outstanding Professional Employee
- Outstanding Operational Employee
All information and descriptions are in the Google form. The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, November 18, 2022. If you have any questions, please contact Administrative Asst., Mrs. Cate, at 703-219-2223 or vmcate@fcps.edu.
