SCHOOL NEWS:

Spirit Day - wear red/white/blue on November 10th

Book Fair:  The Book Fair is coming! Rolling Valley Library is excited to host a Scholastic Book Fair from November 10th-November 18th. Students may shop during the school day and you can even set up an eWallet for your child as a safe payment option so they do not need to bring any cash to school (information can be found at http://bit.ly/rvewallet2022, highly recommended!). If you would like to shop with your child, we have Family Days on Friday, November 11th and Saturday, November 12th, both from 1pm to 4pm. Please enter through the front doors of the school. You may also shop online at our book fair, book orders over $25 get shipped to your home for free, and proceeds still benefit our school. You can shop November 10-23 at www.scholastic.com/bf/rollingvalley. We are excited for this opportunity to get books into students’ hands and homes! If you would like to volunteer to set up or pack up the fair or help students make wish lists, please visit https://bit.ly/RVbookfairvol2022. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Reynolds at slreynolds2@fcps.edu and look for more information in your child’s Friday Folder!

These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.

PTA NEWS:

PYRAMID CHALLENGE: WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Pyramid Challenge is a free fun run with the goal of making fitness fun while also fostering school spirit amongst the 7 elementary schools of the West Springfield Pyramid. The event will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 10am-12:30pm at Irving Middle School.  Registration has closed, but we really need parents (and teens) to help out the day of the event! No experience is necessary - simply sign up, show up and we'll show you exactly what to do.  (And you'll still be able to watch your child run if they're participating!) Please sign up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080b4daea82ba5fc1-pyramid

PYRAMID CHALLENGE:  IMPORTANT INFO FOR PARTICIPANTS:

  • T-shirts:  participants will pick up their t-shirts and race bibs at the event.
  • Parking:  there is limited parking available at Irving.  Additional parking is available at Keene Mill Elementary School and Westwood Baptist Church.  Please allow extra time to park!
  • Charity-tie in:  Since the Pyramid Challenge is the day after Veterans Day, we will be collecting clean, gently used adult, child and baby clothes/shoes on behalf of the Fort Belvoir Thrift Shop.  Please drop off your items at the designated table at the event. The Fort Belvoir Thrift Shop sells the items and uses the money raised to support programs for military families throughout the community. Note that we are NOT doing a canned food drive this year!

SPIRITWEAR:  Our brand new RVES spiritwear is about to debut - look for the flyer in the Friday Folders! Options include t-shirts, hoodies and sweatpants!
