Federal Impact Aide and Missing Necessary Documents
Cedar Students are all coming home today with the Federal Impact Aide form to be completed by parents and returned to the main office by November 4th.
The federal presence in our area and the significant tax exemptions available to federally connected personnel, businesses, and agencies has qualified Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) to be eligible for federal Impact Aid grants.
Impact Aid programs and grants are designed to assist local school districts that enroll federally connected students. The grants from these programs will become part of FCPS' general operating budget and are critical to ensuring that all children in FCPS receive an excellent education. FCPS anticipates receiving approximately $3,000,000 in Impact Aid funds.
In addition, if your child is MISSING any critical forms that FCPS requires, an additional copy is included with the Federal Impact Aide form. Please complete those forms and return them to the main office.
Save The Date Senior Portraits
Cedar Lane will conduct the annual Senior Photo Day on Wednesday, December 7th at the school. All Seniors who expect to be a part of the Cedar Lane Class of 2023 are encouraged to participate in this important event. Seniors will be asked to sign up for a specific time to have their photo taken on December 7th. More information will be sent out as the date gets closer. Lifetouch will have an alternative site for photo sessions. That information will be provided on request.
For any questions about school photos, please contact Robb Metry at Cedar Lane School at rametry@fcps.edu or call the school at 703-208-2400.
Attention Juniors and Seniors
Want to get a jumpstart on your college education while still in high school?
For a limited time, NOVA is offering select college courses at no cost to Fairfax County high school juniors and seniors. This program allows juniors and seniors to take up to two tuition-free courses.
Early Online College courses for the spring semester begin on January 31, 2023, and end on April 24, 2023. These are for college credit only and are designed to jumpstart your college experience. Whether you are planning on going to NOVA or another college/university, the courses were selected because they meet most of NOVA’s associate degree requirements and are highly transferable as general education requirements for most colleges and universities. The deadline to register is 5:00 pm on December 31, 2022.
A document is attached to help you better understand the Early Online College program. Additionally, please check out the NOVA Early College website at https://bit.ly/3VMRmGf and the FCPS Early College Website at https://www.fcps.edu/node/44777.
