Principal's Message

Good evening, Eagles,

What a great Anti-”BOO”lying Spirit Week we had this week at KJMS! Next week, we have fun in store with our Career Day Spirit Week. Be sure your child represents future career aspirations well by dressing for success for our Career Day on Wednesday when we will host over 70 speakers on various career clusters.

We would like to ask for your partnership in helping us take care of our Eagles who may not be feeling well while at school. Here are some pointers to keep everyone safe.

  • Students should not text or call home to let you know they are not feeling well. They should ask an adult to go to the clinic so our staff can reach out to you. We want to ensure that students who are not well are in a supervised environment.
  • We will call home first from our KJMS phone lines. If we are unable to reach you, we may then ask students to contact you with their personal device as that is a number you will recognize.
  • Students should not return to school until 24 hours of being symptom free and medication free after an illness to minimize the spread of communicable illness.  Let’s keep us all safe by taking care of ourselves.

With holidays approaching, we know you may want to thank your student’s teachers.  What better way to do it than gifting them one of their favorite gift cards or any you would like to purchase. Next week will add a list of favorite gifts cards for each of our staff member.

Enjoy the cool weather,

Tammy Silipigni,

Principal

Strategic Planning

Why Does FCPS Need a New Strategic Plan?

By now, you may have heard that FCPS is developing a new Strategic Plan. Here are some reasons why the school division is engaging in this important work. Our last strategic plan was developed in 2015. Since then, we experienced a pandemic that changed the way we think, a shift in technology that has seen eight new versions of the iPhone, and plans developed for the first manned mission to Mars.

Our students are preparing for careers that don’t exist today. In order to keep pace with these needs, we need to rethink our plans for the future—and how we will best serve our students for this new era. Employees, parents/caregivers, students, and our FCPS community must share the same purpose in order to recognize how we can move forward together.

We are all much more motivated, and successful, when we share clear end goals. Learn more on our Strategic Plan webpage

Fairfax High School Java Coding Lessons

Robotics club at Fairfax High School. Our students will be offering a virtual workshop to middle school students in Basic Java and Advanced Java coding. They are doing this as their fundraiser for buying supplies to build their Robot and pay competition fees. We could use your help to advertise the workshop.
