 Election Day: No School
Don’t forget to get out and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 8! The day will be observed as a holiday for students and teachers. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.
Veterans Day (School Planning Day/Student holiday)
As a reminder, Friday, November 11, is a student holiday/school planning day for the Veterans Day holiday. Veterans Day provides a great reason to pause, reflect, and recognize the extraordinary sacrifices our Veterans and their families have made on our behalf, and we thank them for their service.
It’s almost time for the Scholastic Book Fair!
The in-person Book Fair will be open from November 14th – November 18th in the GBW Library.
Please visit the GBW Book Fair Homepage:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greenbriarwestelemschool
What you need to know about the Book Fair:
- Look out for student Wish Lists that will be coming home on 11/14 and 11/15.
- Students can shop at the Fair during school on the 11/15 – 11/18.
- We are encouraging families to sign up for eWallet accounts for your students. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted also, but eWallet is the easiest and safest way for kids to shop!
Please click here for a video explaining eWallet.
Please click here to set up eWallet.
- Bring the whole family and join us for a Family Night on November 15th from 6-8 PM or drop by for refreshments and shopping before the PTA meeting on November 17th from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.
- In lieu of Classroom Wishlists, teachers will be setting up eWallet accounts of their own. If you wish, you can contribute to the classroom eWallet accounts so teachers can buy books of their choice for their classroom libraries. The individual classroom links will be coming soon!
We can’t wait to see your child at the Scholastic Book Fair!
TJHSST Science Fair
The TJ Investigative Science Outreach, a student-led organization at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology will be hosting their 10th anniversary science fair on March 18th, 2023. They would like to invite 5th-8th grade students from our school to participate. Admission to the science fair is completely free.
Participants will complete a research project of their choice and present at the fair in-person on March 18, 2023. They help students prepare for this fair by holding multiple sessions to teach them important skills in STEM like brainstorming, presenting, writing an experiment summary, statistics, creating an experimental diagram, etc.
Their first interest/brainstorming session is Friday November 4th, 2022 at 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. They will be holding this session both in-person and virtually. During this session we will go over the goals and guidelines of this fair and introduce students to a multitude of project ideas. All interested students should sign up using the form at the link: https://forms.gle/kDHmtqUefP2WdFey5
