Terra Centre Families,
We are excited to share that Terra Centre has been recognized as a Purple Star School. This designation is reserved for schools that prove themselves to be a military-friendly school and committed to the needs of military-connected students and their families.
At Terra Centre, our Purple Star staff committee has led the charge to ensure that our military-families feel safe and supported in our school and community. Working with our SCA and Student Leadership Team, they developed a system to ensure that our new military-connected students and their families feel welcomed from the moment they enter through guided tours, student ambassadors, and peer groups among other supports. Terra Centre will hold this honored distinction for three years, before being required to reapply.
First quarter progress reports will be sent home with students in 1st-6th grade on Thursday, November 10th. Kindergarten students will have parent teacher conferences and will not receive an official 1st quarter progress report.
As a reminder, schools are closed for students on Tuesday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 11 for a teacher workday.
Please read below for important updates, reminders, and upcoming events.

How FCPS Develops Its School Year Calendar
In an annual planning process, Fairfax County Public Schools uses input from the community to develop the calendar for the following year. Our framework for creating the calendar is available online to ensure transparency, as we work to build a calendar that is inclusive and equitable. Watch your email for a feedback form, which will be shared with parents, staff, and middle and high school students.

Staying Healthy This Cold/Flu Season
Although the community level of COVID-19 in Fairfax County is currently low, cases of RSV, the flu, and other viruses are on the rise. It continues to be important to wash your hands regularly, cover coughs and sneezes, monitor your health daily, and stay home if you are sick. For more tips, visit our Return to School website.
