Principal's Message

Hello Lynbrook Families,

This Friday marks the end of the first quarter of the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you so much for your continued partnership and support! Our Lynbrook Leprechauns are off to a fantastic start and we look forward to seeing their continual socio-emotional and academic  growth these next 3 quarters. We are so very proud of all of their accomplishments and are thrilled to see that their love of learning is at an all time high!

Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Parent teacher conferences are a fantastic opportunity as well to discuss your child’s strengths and areas that may need some additional development.  We are always your partners in education!

As a final thought, please continue to monitor your child’s health. Fall cold and virus season is very much upon us. While students must stay home if they have a fever, please continue to consult with our School Health Aide on what constitutes “too sick for school.” We recognize that it is also fall allergy season and kids tend to also have a lingering cough or runny nose while they are very much on the mend. Every day of school counts and your child is such a valued member of our community so we always hope to see them in school. If you have any additional questions about excused absences, please do not hesitate to call the school office at 703-866-2940 and a member of our team will be happy to take your questions.

With gratitude,

Kathleen Sain

Principal

Superintendent Community Conversations

Please save the date for this very special event! Dr. Michelle Reid, FCPS superintendent, will host a Community Conversation at Lewis High School on Thursday, November 10th, 6:30-7:30pm in the cafeteria. This event will be a unique opportunity to help Dr. Reid get to know our school community and learn more about her vision for our district.

Please pre-register for this event for the Lewis HS Pyramid at this link:  https://www.fcps.edu/blog/superintendent-community-conversationsClick to edit this placeholder text.

TalkingPoints

FCPS has recently adopted TalkingPoints, a two-way messaging app that allows parents and caregivers to communicate with teachers and schools. Look for messages from your child’s teacher to keep you up to date on what’s happening at school. For more information, visit the FCPS TalkingPoints webpage.

The app translates messages, so teachers can input messages in English and parents can respond in their preferred language. TalkingPoints supports 125 languages, making it easier and faster for our FCPS families to connect with their schools. If you need to update your preferred correspondence language, contact Josefina Baptiste in the front office at Lynbrook.

Impact Aid Survey

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.

Lynbrook 6th Graders Sang the National Anthem at Lewis HS Game

Lynbrook singers at Lewis HS game

A number of our dedicated 6th grade singers put in extra practice to sing the national anthem with students from Key Middle School and Lewis High School at a recent Lewis HS football game.  This was a great experience for them and they had a lot of fun sharing their talents.
