#GreatMindsatWork

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Storybook Character Day! From our youngest preschoolers pictured to our third graders and staff; many stories were promoted and shared.

tree

Check out our 3rd graders who planted our new tree named Red Maple Spark. They accomplished this with the help and donation of Mr. Thomasson; character costumes and all! Our students learned about the many things that come from trees and also donated those items to Care to Share. A big thank you to KPES staff, Amy Mullen, Stephanie Blanton and Michelle Crabill for their collaboration and coordination.

Veterans Day Celebration

Do you have a veteran or active servicemember in your life? Kings Park and Kings Glen students and their families are invited to post a video message on Flipgrid. Please use this link to share a photo of your veteran and/or tell us about your veteran's service.  Flipgrid access is available with your child's fcpsschool.net login by choosing Join with Google

If you don't have a veteran or active servicemember among your loved ones, you can use this Flipgrid to thank veterans and servicemembers and share what this day means to you.

Please complete your Flipgrid video by Friday November 4th, 2022.

Thank you for your participation! We are excited to share this Veteran’s Day Flipgrid tribute with KP/KG community on or before Veterans Day

Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS.

All saints day

All Saints Day  - Día de los Muertos

Día de los Muertos is an opportunity to remember and celebrate the lives of departed loved ones. Tuesday, November 1, and Wednesday, November 2, are “O” Days this year. To learn more about Día de los Muertos, watch this video. While Día de los Muertos is largely celebrated in Mexico and Latin America, it also coincides with All Saints Day (November 1) and All Souls Day (November 2). These days are celebrated by Catholics, Anglicans, and some Protestants worldwide to honor those who have died and gone to heaven (All Saints Day) and those who may still be in purgatory (All Souls Day). The school calendar recognizes many religious and cultural observances (O days) during the school year. There is school on these days, however, the School Board has directed that tests, quizzes, field trips, graduation, homecoming, or FCPS-scheduled athletic events will not be held on these observance days.
