Good afternoon, Eagle Community,

Happy Diwali to those families who will be celebrating on Monday, October 24, 2022. We hope you are able to connect with family and friends during this time. May your Diwali be full of fun, lights, and sweet treats!

Thank you to all of the amazing parent volunteers who made our 7th grade Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience field trip a huge success! The students had many chilly days on the water at Cub Run and learned lots about our local watershed. Our science teachers did a wonderful job organizing this huge event that lasted all week. Be sure to ask your 7th grader what their favorite part of the day was!

For parents who bring students to school in the mornings, either by choice or if a student misses the bus, we need to bring a few reminders to you. First, this time of year is very dark in the mornings. Remember, our staff does NOT begin to unload until 7:10 AM to allow staff time to park and enter the building safely without cars moving in the front lanes. Do not allow your child out earlier to sit in front of the school, as they are not supervised, and it is very cold this time of year. Walkers and bike riders should not plan to arrive until after 7:10 AM when doors are open. Parents should pull all the way up in the line as they wait for staff to direct them to unload. Thank you for keeping all staff and students safe.

Our after school programming and tutoring is very successful! We have been in the top 5 of all middle schools each week for attendance with 250-300 kids on late bus days. We are hopeful to be in first place after this week’s totals are calculated. This year, we do have Friday late buses for the first time! Be sure to check your child’s teacher’s stay-late day to get free help.

As a reminder, please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures were due by September 30. Please complete this form today as we currently still need half of our families to complete this task. Visit the SIS Parentvue Account Overview page for help logging in to your account. Please contact us at 703-934-2400 if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

In closing, get out there this weekend and enjoy the beautiful colors of fall! I recently went to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the brilliance of the leaves is breathtaking.

Sincerely,

Tammy Silipigni,

Principal
