Cub Runathon kids

Dear Cub Run Families,

Last Friday's Cub Runathon was a huge success! We couldn't have asked for better weather--blue sky, low humidity, an autumn sun, and a light breeze--perfect for runners and spectators alike. I join PTA President Suzanne Leonard in her message of thanks here below:

Our cubbies had so much fun running the obstacle course and got to enjoy snow cones afterwards with their classmates, teachers, and Cubby Bear.

Thank you so much for all those who volunteered to make this year's Cub-Run-A-Thon a success.  This event requires more volunteers than any other Cub Run endeavor and we are so thankful for all in our community that pitched in to help!

Thank you to Kaycie Sisowath, Mona Larsen, Rich Cable, Stephanie Matonek, and Daniel Sherwood for coming to school at sunrise to set up on the day of the event!  Kaycie has designed the Cub-Run-A-Thon course for years now - and we are so thankful for her time and efforts!

Also, thank you to those who stayed all day - you were critical to the day's success, specifically:  Stephanie Matonek, Daniel Sherwood, Catherine Stewart, Karyn Miller, Thersea Hassett, Melissa Comegys, Jessica Keegan, Jennifer An, and Cindy An.

Catherine Stewart did a great job organizing volunteers.  Thank you to Stephanie Matonek and Jennifer An for sweating it out in our Cubby Costume.

Special thanks to the all-day support we received from PE teacher and MC extraordinaire, Mr. Dofflemyer.  Mr. Helmand, the PE student teacher, led the stretches, and music teacher Ms. Shultz set up the audio and provided a playlist.  This year's course was more inclusive with the help of Adaptive PE teacher Justin Schwartz, PTA board member Cindy Dobbs, and Assistant Principal Nausheen Haider who worked hard to ensure all cubbies could enjoy the run!  It was so nice to have so many specials teachers helping us all day too, like art teacher Ms. Brock and substitute Ms. Chang.

Donations for the Cub-Run-A-Thon can still be sent in until this Friday, October 28. Thank you so much for your support!

Many, many thanks so Suzanne Leonard herself, who is such an amazing PTA support for all of our cubbies!

In other news, we're thrilled that the playground renovation is underway! Stay tuned for photos of the final result in mid-November.

Have a wonderful week!

Warm regards,

Natalie Lorenzi

book character day

Book Character Day

We are so excited for Book Character Dress-Up Day this Friday, October 28. Students may come to school dressed up as a character from a favorite book. They will spend the day celebrating their favorite characters and the books they enjoy reading.

Costume Guidelines:

  • Select a book character from your favorite book.
  •  Students are encouraged to use items already at home to create their character costume. Be creative and have fun !!
  • All costumes must be school dress appropriate. No masks, face paint or weapons.

Students are not required to dress up, but we hope they will take part in the fun! We are looking forward to an exciting day celebrating our favorite books and characters.
