Last week teachers sent home the Impact Aid Survey for each student. Please make sure to send this back to school ASAP. We need one form filled out and signed for each student who attends Bucknell.
We missed all of our students' smiling faces at school today. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning, Tuesday October 25th, at 8:45am.

Two Hour Early Release Friday + No School on Monday
As a reminder, Friday, October 28, is the last day of the first quarter, and a two-hour early release for students. This means that students will be released at 1:30 PM. This is a correction from last week's News You Choose.
Also, schools are closed for students on Monday, October 31, for a teacher workday. See the complete 2022-23 School Year Calendar.
Impact Aid Survey Due ASAP
ALL families need to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid for each student. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.
After-School Clubs Start Tomorrow!
After-school clubs will be starting Tuesday Octber 25 and Wednesday October 26th. Students who signed up for after-school clubs received a confirmation letter in their Thursday folders this week. This form will indicate the club each student will participate in as well as the day of the week they will attend. Please make any arrangements necessary for transportations. Clubs end at 5:00 and will dismiss out of the front of the building – door 1. Students who signed up for bus transportation must be met at the stop or they will be returned to the school. Wear Your Storybook Character Costume on Friday!
Friday, October 28th, is Storybook Day! This will be our last Spirit Day of October! In celebration of the Fall Funtacular - where there will be FREE books for all students - we are encouraging students to dress up as a storybook character.
Please note that students will not be allowed to wear custome masks, costume face coverings, or caps in school. In addition, we encourage students to leave props for their costumes at home. All masks, caps, props, etc. are welcomed at the Fall Funtacular!
We look forward to seeing everyone's school spirit on Friday!
Fall Funtacular is Friday
BUCKNELL PTA's first-ever Fall Funtacular is just ONE week away! We can't wait to see our families, staff and community join us for this fun family event. All are welcome. Students have been voting this week for their choice of movie and the winning choice will be revealed early next week! Here are some updates and further details, if you are planning to attend the event next Friday, October 28 at 5:00PM.
- Please enter our event via the new Bucknell Community Garden at Door 11 for Instagram moments, free apple cider, and to greet our school mascot, Bucky the Bulldog! The entire event is outdoors, weather-permitting.
- There is limited parking available: if you able to walk or roll to our event, we would appreciate it in order to keep all students and attendees as safe as possible.

The fun starts at 5PM; the movie will begin at 6PM in the courtyard next to Door 5 (Kiss & Ride entrance/exit).
- If you have registered to bring something for our Bake Sale, Bucknell parent Barbora Grosova will be contacting you with more details.
- Popcorn, apple cider and water will be provided free of charge. Items from the Bake Sale & drinks table will be for sale at minimal cost. Please bring small bills and change if possible!
- Our small Trunk or Treat will take place in the parking spots next to the gym, by the Kiss & Ride loop. We are still accepting donations of candy in the Front Office. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!
- Please feel free to bring your own blankets, folding chairs or mats for you and your children to sit on so that you are comfortable.
- In the event of rain, our event will be rescheduled to Friday, November 4.

Superintendent's Community Conversations
Please save the date for a very special event! Dr. Michelle Reid, FCPS superintendent, will host a Community Conversation at West Potomac High School on October 27 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. This event will be a unique opportunity to help Dr. Reid get to know our school community and learn more about her vision for our district.

FCPS Cares - Recognize Bucknell Employees!
FCPS Cares is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize those who go above and beyond to help others and show they care.
