The Fairfax Academy faculty and staff was fortunate to engage in a professional development session this week from a guest presenter. We are excited to engage in more collaborative work around the Portrait of a Graduate Skills as an Academy and find unique opportunities for our students to collaborate on cross disciplinary opportunities.

The first one of these opportunities is the annual Career Experience Expo on November.

We have  extended the deadline for the Career Experience Expo paperwork to Wednesday, October 26. Please make sure your student submits all paperwork (acknowledgement form, emergency care form, and pre-arranged absence form) to the Academy office or their teacher by 3pm. Information about scheduling rides and selecting breakout sessions is below.

In this week's staff feature we get to know more about Ms. Orr, our brand new Career Experience Specialist and sponsor of the Career Experience Expo.

A reminder that Friday is an early release which means some of our classes will not be meeting for feeder students.

  • AM block will meet as usual and all shuttles will be running at the regular times.
  • MD, PM and double blocked shuttles are canceled for all feeder school students. Students should connect with their base school about where to report during their Academy class periods.
  • Fairfax HS students should follow the FHS altered bell schedule.

If you have any questions about the modified schedule or the Career Experience Expo, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly at 703-219-2226.

Looking forward to a fantastic week!

As shared, this is a full day field trip for students to engage in collaborative career conversations on topics focused on expanding their experiences for their dream job or profession.
