LAES Weekly Wave: October 14

Principal's Message

Dear Lake Anne Family,

It's been another wonderful week at Lake Anne! We want to thank everyone who joined us for our PTA meeting on Wednesday evening. It was wonderful to be able to talk about our goals for this school year and share our core beliefs of Rigor, Relationships, and Respect!

We are hoping that everyone will come out and join us on October 21st for the South Lakes Homecoming Parade. Wear your dolphin gear and help Lake Anne be the "loudest and proudest" elementary school in the South Lakes Pyramid!

We would like to give a special thank you to our Spanish Immersion Team who planned two wonderful parades so that students could celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! It was a joy to see so many countries represented. We are proud to be able to celebrate so much diversity in our student and community population!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Principal Appreciation Month

h

For the remainder of October, we'll be celebrating Principal Appreciation Month with the help of the PTA! PTA is asking families to help show our appreciation for Mrs. Stewart and Dr. Rogers by sending in flowers and homemade cards on Monday morning. Also, there are opportunities to send in Mrs. Stewart's & Dr. Rogers' favorite coffee drinks and lunches all week long. Please sign up to contribute here: https://laes.ptboard.com/sgnvw

Volunteer Orientation

b

Please join us on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 9:30 AM for our volunteer orientation!

Learn about all the opportunities to volunteer at Lake Anne throughout the school year!

Tardies

We have noticed an increase in the number of tardy students. As a reminder, instruction begins promptly at 8:50 AM. Students may start entering the building as early as 8:30 AM so that they have plenty of time to get breakfast and get settled in class. The morning news and announcements are on in every classroom at 8:50 AM to begin the day.

Thank you for doing your part to ensure students are in their classrooms by 8:50 AM.

COVID Diagnostic Testing

m

COVID diagnostic testing will be available for FCPS students, teachers, and staff at five locations across the county on October 17, 18, and 19. This testing is for those who are either experiencing COVID symptoms or have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID. Appointments are not required, but registration must be completed before testing. Visit the COVID Testing webpage for more information

Federal Impact Aid

Beginning on October 18, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.

Dyslexia Awareness Month

In recognition of Dyslexia Awareness Month, the Virginia Department of Education is offering an informational webinar designed for Virginia teachers, administrators, and parents. Presenters are experts in the fields of dyslexia and reading.

Families and Schools Partnering for Children’s Literacy Success
