Opioid Awareness

Dr. Reid sent an Opioid Letter to families that is linked on the district website HERE.  Please take some time to:

  • read about tips for keeping children safe,
  • register for a webinar on "Everything You Need to Know About Opioids" that will be held live on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. (you may opt to register to receive the recorded version instead), and
  • learn about additional Fairfax County resources.

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

Beginning on October 19, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.

Fairfax County Youth Survey - Grades 10 & 12

The Fairfax County School Board and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors work together to administer the Fairfax County Youth Survey annually to our students in grades 10 and 12. The survey asks questions about risky behavior, mental health, physical health, and safety. There are questions about behaviors related to alcohol, illegal drugs, or misuse of prescription drugs. Additional questions about depression, student stress, bullying and harassment, personal health, and - for students in eighth, tenth, and twelfth grade only - sexual behavior, will be included in the survey. Students are also asked about specific protective factors concerning health and safety.

The survey will be given between November 7-22.  More details on the exact day/time will be provided later.  You have the right to preview the survey and may deny permission for your child to participate if you desire. Please see the attached letter for more information on how to preview the survey and directions on how to opt-out.  Opt-out forms must be returned to the Student Services office no later than November 7, 2022.
