A note from Mr. Cooper

Dear Fairhill Families:

As many of you know, yesterday was my first day back at Fairhill after paternity leave. While I of course enjoyed my time with my family, I have been eager to get back to my other family - the students, staff, and community at Fairhill. Yesterday I was greeted with such radiant smiles and love from all of our students.  It was great to see our returning students and meet our new families this year.

I wanted to share a bit of gratitude for our Fairhill staff, our students, and our community during my absence. Tim, Courtney, and our staff have done an incredible job starting the year and Fairhill is running as smoothly as ever, focusing on relationships, trust, student learning, and social development. Our students have been working hard and are already extremely well versed in our routines and procedures. Finally, it has been wonderful to see and hear from so many of our families about how great their year has been so far!  A huge thank you to our community for your support of our tree planting initiative and our PTA for contributing to our lovely door mat in the main lobby!

I look forward to continuing  to work with each of our families to ensure they are having a positive experience at Fairhill. I look forward to seeing you all at community events in the future (see below for more information)!

With gratitude,

Ted

Dear Fairhill Families,

This has been another great week at Fairhill! Above you will see some important dates to  remember for opportunities to build community and connection at Fairhill. We hope to see each of you at some if not all of these events if your family is able to attend. One of the things that makes Fairhill such a special place are the traditions we have and it’s exciting to see many of them returning!

See you at the Fall Festival and the Pumpkin Pie Run!

All our best,

Ted & Courtney

Federal Impact Aid Survey

Please check your students' Tuesday folder today.  Each eligible student at Fairhill received a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.

Returning this form is important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's teacher. If Sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All responses are confidential.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Anne Kane ackane@fcps.edu.

Watch the video to learn more about this process.

Digital Citizenship Week

digital citizenship

The week of October 17th-21st is Digital Citizenship Week. In addition to learning throughout the year, this week highlights our shared responsibility that plays a vital role in ensuring students learn to use technology safely, responsibly, ethically, and learn to develop healthy habits and self-monitoring skills around the use of technology.  Visit the Feature section of our website for a resource that will be added each day of the week to promote conversations between families and students!
