pumpkin patch

#GreatMindsatWork

We were excited to kick off the first field trip of the year. This week our Kindergarten students visited Cox Farm and it was a hit. Every student was offered a pumpkin to take home and enjoyed the fall weather.

socktober

A big thank you to the KPES community for the sizable donation of socks. We are thrilled to be working with our Lake Braddock Secondary students to support this great cause.

October Spirit Day

BookCharacterDay

Friday October 28 is Storybook Character Day
Help Kings Park ES celebrate our love for literacy. Dress up as your favorite storybook character. Bring your favorite book along! Be creative, but no character masks or weapons.

Gift Card Drive

We all need a little extra support sometimes. As we head into the winter season,  we are collecting gift cards to Giant, Walmart and Target.  These cards will go towards helping families access basic needs and supports throughout the school year. If you are interested in helping our Kings Park families, please send gift cards in an envelope attention: School Counseling Office by Friday November 11th.  Questions? Please contact our school counselors Corri Shusterman rcshusterman@fcps.edu or Tracy Rossi tlrossi@fcps.edu  or our school social worker Katie Carroll, kcarroll3@fcps.edu . Thank you for in advance for your generosity!

Student–Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

Kings Park is sending home Federal Impact Aid forms on Friday, October 21st.  Beginning October 18th, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will ask all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important, because FCPS anticipates receiving approximately $3 million in additional grants from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County Public Schools and Centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please sign, date, and return the completed form to your student’s teacher by November 4th. All information provided is treated confidentially.  Additional information about the Federal Impact Aid Survey can be found at https://www.fcps.edu/impact.  If you have questions regarding the form, please call our office at 703-426-7000.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow! The FCPS Calendar

Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child later in life. It’s a good habit to build now to help them graduate from college on time and routinely report to work on time once they have a career.

Take a look at the FCPS Calendar. Try to ensure that any trips or family events are on weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students who are absent 10 percent of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered “chronically absent.”

When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or appointment, you must report the absence to the school. Kings Park ES has a link to our attendance email or notification systems on their homepages. If you are unsure of how to contact them, call the front office.

Visit our Attendance webpage for resources on attendance.

FCPS Multilingual Podcast

Fairfax County Public Schools produces a multilingual podcast every two weeks to highlight relevant information for families in their own languages. It is produced in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Korean.

The latest episode introduces the FCPS Trust Policy and reminds families to review the Student Rights and Responsibilities document. Learn more about the Podcast.
