Lunch in our Cafeteria
We are excited to share that we are open for parents/caregivers to have lunch with their students. Effective Monday, October 17, parents can sign in at the main office during their child’s lunchtime to visit in the cafeteria. Please make note of the following:
- Our first priority is to ensure every student has a seat at their respective class table to eat lunch with their peers.
- We have several grade levels that eat lunch at the same time. This results in a crowded cafeteria so please be mindful of this. We do have one overflow table in the center of the cafeteria where students can sit with their parents.
- For safety reasons, please remain in the cafeteria while visiting for lunch. Parents are not permitted to walk their child to class, visit the playground, etc.
- Please do not bring food from outside vendors to your child during lunch. This creates challenges for other students who may not have the opportunity to eat lunch with their parent /caregiver or have a special lunch brought to them.
Please fill out our google form found here so that we can account for how many parents/caregivers will be visiting on a daily basis.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid
Beginning on October 18, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Watch your mailbox for the form to arrive.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.

Covid Diagnostic Testing

National Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. To help develop a common understanding of Bullying, below is the FCPS definition.
Bullying in Students Rights and Responsibilities is defined as: “Any aggressive and unwanted behavior that is intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate the victim; involves a real or perceived power imbalance between the aggressor or aggressors and victim; and is repeated over time or causes severe emotional trauma. “Bullying” includes cyberbullying. “Bullying” does not include ordinary teasing, horseplay, argument, or peer conflict.”
For more information on how FCPS handles a bullying situation please visit the FCPS Bullying Prevention and Intervention webpage. Our goal is to ensure all students feel safe and welcomed at school. If you have questions and/or concerns about something that is going on at school, please contact the front office so that they can support you and most importantly your student.

This year’s overall on-time graduation rate is only 0.4 points less than the division’s 94.6 percent high in 2021, reflecting continued success with a larger and more diverse senior class.

Be a Monitor - Join our Fairview Staff
Fairview has had a wonderful start to the school year. As we plan forward, we are seeking to hire monitors to supervise students at non-instructional blocks of their day. The hiring of monitors will promote additional valuable planning time for the teachers on a consistent basis and is required per new county regulations. Monitors will be trained to cover recess for a classroom teacher a time or two a week. Again, these are hourly paid positions and required at all schools. We look forward to welcoming Fairview community members to express interest via email to our Assistant Principal, Ms. Ehrman, at rnrehrman@fcps.edu. The monitor position is paid at an hourly rate of $16.36 per hour There is flexibility within this time and days of the week. Thank you for considering joining our Fairview team!
