#GreatMindsatWork

Our student leaders are hard at work! Inside the hallways our Cub Patrols are stationed at strategic spots to remind students to use their "walking feet" and to be safe. We are grateful for the many ways they give back to the KPES community.

Save the Dates: October Spirit Day

socktober

Friday October 14 is Crazy Socks Day
Celebrate SOCKTOBER! Wear a pair, bring a pair to share.  Help the Lake Braddock pyramid collect socks for those in need this winter; donations will go to local shelters and ECHO. On Friday October 14th, wear crazy socks to school and bring one pair of new socks to donate. Each classroom will have a collection bag. Child and adult socks are welcome.

BookCharacterDay

Friday October 28 is Storybook Character Day
Help Kings Park ES celebrate our love for literacy. Dress up as your favorite storybook character. Bring your favorite book along! Be creative, but no character masks or weapons.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow! The FCPS Calendar

Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child later in life. It’s a good habit to build now to help them graduate from college on time and routinely report to work on time once they have a career.

Take a look at the FCPS Calendar. Try to ensure that any trips or family events are on weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students who are absent 10 percent of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered “chronically absent.”

When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or appointment, you must report the absence to the school. Kings Park ES has a link to our attendance email or notification systems on their homepages. If you are unsure of how to contact them, call the front office.

Visit our Attendance webpage for resources on attendance.

FCPS Multilingual Podcast

Fairfax County Public Schools produces a multilingual podcast every two weeks to highlight relevant information for families in their own languages. It is produced in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Korean.

The latest episode introduces the FCPS Trust Policy and reminds families to review the Student Rights and Responsibilities document. Learn more about the Podcast.

Advanced Academics

The Kings Park and Kings Glen Advanced Academics Resource Teachers, Mrs. Keane and Mrs. Rode, have collaborated to create another informational video about Advanced Academics. This video focuses specifically on the screening process for Level IV (full-time) AAP services. Students can be screened in grades 2-7, for services in grades 3-8. The video can be found at https://youtu.be/oEx1Hzk87jM.

Mrs. Keane and Mrs. Rode will be co-hosting a question-and-answer (Q&A) session on Zoom to address any questions about the Level IV (full-time) screening process. To receive the Zoom link, please sign up no later than Monday, October 10th, at https://forms.gle/c4gqSzSW9UX6yUZZ8.

As always, if there are any further questions please reach out to Mrs. Keane at makeane@fcps.edu.
