Message from Dr. Floyd
Welcome to Homecoming Weekend!
I am thrilled to be back with our Woodson Community as this is one of my favorite weeks of the year. The energy about the building is contagious and exciting.
We had a pep rally this morning, and next is the parade at 4:30pm followed by the Pig Out and the football game vs South County HS. Our HoCo (as it is fondly referred to) dance is tomorrow night at 8pm here at Woodson. There is lots to do, lots to be involved in and lots of Woodson spirit!
A huge shout out to Dan Schaefer and Krissy Schnebel for leading our student leaders through this weekend’s events. This is a weekend that has been months in the making with numerous opportunities for our student leaders to shine. Excellent work and kudos to all!
In the coming weeks you will be hearing about our reviving of the Parent Advisory Council. This is an opportunity for parents to provide school leaders with their perspective about events and issues at Woodson as well as a review of the Fairfax County Youth Survey Data and Family Engagement Survey. Be on the lookout for an email through the e-Notify system with more information.
I'm looking forward to an active Fall week ahead. We have a Woodson pyramid chorus concert on Thursday, JV cross country has a meet Wednesday, we celebrate our seniors at volleyball on Tuesday and we begin district competitions with cheer on Monday. You can view all of Woodson's events and activities on our integrated school calendar.
MANY clubs are up and running and I encourage all students to find some activities and friendships that bring them joy. If you have an idea for a club that doesn’t already exist, contact Ms. Pollack to discuss how to get it started (sepollack@fcps.edu).
Wishing all our families a safe and enjoyable Fall weekend,
Dr. Floyd Principal
The Homecoming Court was announced during the Pep Rally today.

7. AP Test Opt-Out Timeline and Fees
As part of the FCPS FY 2022 Approved Budget, FCPS is continuing to assess Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) test fees. As in previous years, the fees for the first six AP/IB tests taken for courses in which students are enrolled for high school credit will be paid for by FCPS. Students taking AP tests without enrolling in the corresponding FCPS course are responsible for the test fee(s).
FCPS encourages all students to take AP tests for courses in which they are enrolled. However, students will have the opportunity to opt-out of the test(s) by filling out an Opt-Out form to be provided by the school. To assist in the decision-making process, students will be provided a report with their previous tests and current AP course enrollment. AP students must make Opt-Out decisions by Friday, October 21st and parents will be billed a $96 non-refundable test fee in December 2022 for tests that exceed the six FCPS funded tests.
2023 AP Testing
Reference the College Board 2023 AP exam dates site for dates of AP Exams. All 2023 AP exams will be taken in school and most will be taken in a paper/pencil format.
If you have any questions, please contact Woodson's Assessment Coordinator, Kathleen Crosson at kpcrosson@fcps.edu.

Students will use their school issued laptops and will be given a login just as they do for the SOL tests. -
Payment: First you must register through the ACE and pay $20.
-
Register for this test event at DMV Registration (Internet Explorer 9 or higher or Safari).
- A customer number is not required, but if you have a DMV ID card you must enter the name, DOB and customer number exactly as it appears on your DMV ID card. Otherwise, enter your full legal name and date of birth and leave the customer number field blank.
- Please provide a parent or student’s email to receive registration confirmation, test results, notification of changes to the date and time or cancellation of the test event.
- Before taking the two part knowledge test, please STUDY the Driver’s Manual located on DMV’s web site.
If you have any questions with the process, please contact DMV by phone at (804) 497-7100.
