Indigenous People's Day
Honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Native people's past and present.
This year, Monday, October 10, is a student holiday (no school for students only) and staff development day.

Walk to School Day
Groveton ES and Fairfax County Public Schools will participate in International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 12, in an effort to promote physical activity and reduce traffic congestion and pollution near schools. Students and employees are encouraged to bike or walk to school and work where safe to do so on October 12. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children to school, and to work with their school and PTA or PTO to assemble bike trains or walking groups for the event. Schools are encouraged to register online with Walk and Bike to School. Get more information about Walk to School Day.
Advanced Academics (AAP) Parent Orientation
Who: All Groveton Parents
When: Tuesday, October 11 at 6:00 PM (Esperanza Ruiz, our Family Liaison, will translate for those preferring the presentation in Spanish)
Where: Groveton Library
Please join us on Tuesday, October 11 to learn about Groveton’s Advanced Academics Program (AAP). Our Advanced Academic resource teachers and several of our classroom teachers will share how the AAP strategies and resources are used with all students. We will also provide important information on the screening process used to identify full time Level IV students. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
