Indigenous Peoples' Day

Sunday, October 9 is Indigenous Peoples' Day. October 10 is a holiday for students  See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.

Tuesday, October 11 is Family Science Night Students and their families in Grades K-6 are invited to join us for an evening filled with hands-on activities from 6:00 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, October 12 - AAP Grades 2-6  Level IV Screening Family Information Session 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Family Science Night

We are excited to partner with the Children's Science Center for our Family Science Night. Bring the whole family for an evening of hands-on fun, discovery, and science learning. 

Bus transportation will be provided for students and their families to and from the event. The bus will make the following stops:

  1. Annandale Rd & James Lee Condo 5:30pm
  2. W Marshall St & Cavalier 5:40pm
  3. Hollywood Rd & Savannah St 5:50pm

Leaving Timber Lane, the bus will go in reverse.

Advanced Academics Programs

Level IV Screening Information Session for Families in Grades 2-6

October 12, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. @ Timber Lane ES

The screening of elementary and middle school students for eligibility in Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) is ongoing throughout the year for Subject Specific Advanced Differentiation (level II) and Part-Time services (level III), and has specific deadlines for Full-Time AAP placement (level IV).

The newsletter articles contain information about AAP services, testing, screening, and the annual parent referral deadline for Full-Time AAP (level IV) services.

offer monthly distribution of nutritious groceries to our school community, free of charge!

Capital Area Food Bank TLESe

Low-Cost Internet for Free and Reduced-Price Eligible Students

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a new FCC program to lower internet costs for families with children who have been eligible for free or reduced-price meals within the last 12 months. A qualifying household will receive $30 per month toward internet services and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. Families can check their eligibility and register at AffordableConnectivity.gov or by calling 877-384-2575.

The deadline to share your thoughts about in-person instruction and continuity of services is October 10. This opportunity is a routine check-in on how FCPS is using Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funding to support our work to maintain safe school environments and address the impact of COVID-19 on students.
