2022-23 AP/IB Test Schedule and Fees

Reference the College Board 2023 AP exam dates site for dates of AP Exams.  All 2023 AP exams will be taken in school and most will be taken in a paper/pencil format.

As part of the FCPS FY 2022 Approved Budget, FCPS is continuing to assess Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) test fees. Please visit 2022-23  FCPS AP Testing fee schedule  or AP Testing Fees FAQ for in-depth information regarding the 2022-23 AP Test fees.

  • Fees for the first six AP tests taken for courses in which students are enrolled for high school credit will be paid for by FCPS.
  • For each exam beyond six, families will be charged the College Board testing fee of $96. Students who are eligible for Free/Reduced lunch and have completed the Consent to Share form will not be charged the exam fee(s).
  • Students that wish to take AP tests without enrolling in the corresponding FCPS course are responsible for the test fee(s).   Please see Ms. Hughes or Ms. Shaw for the registration form.
  • FCPS encourages all students to take AP/IB tests for courses in which they are enrolled. However, students will have the opportunity to opt-out of the test(s) by filling out an Opt-Out form to be provided by the school in mid-October.
  • Parents will be billed a non-refundable test fee in December 2022 for tests that exceed the six FCPS funded tests.

AP Opt Out Information:

Students will receive their AP Opt Out form from Westfield High School during the week of October 10th.

Deadline:  If choosing to opt out of an exam, AP students must return the Opt-Out form no later than October 25th to either Nicole Shaw(Subschool 4, ntshaw@fcps.edu ) or Dana Hughes(Subschool 2, dghughes@fcps.edu ) .

  • Students who submit an Opt Out form will receive a confirmation email from either Nicole Shaw or Dana Hughes, to confirm the receipt of your Opt Out form. If you do not receive an email by October 31, 2022 assume your form has not been received/processed and see Ms. Shaw or Ms. Hughes immediately.

To assist in the decision-making process, students will be provided a report in early October with their previous tests and current AP course enrollment.

For further questions regarding AP Testing, please contact Nicole Shaw, ntshaw@fcps.edu  or Dana Hughes, dghughes@fcps.edu

Red Ribbon Week

Enrique (Kiki) Camarena was a Mexican-American man working for the DEA after serving in the Marine Corps, being a fireman, police officer, and deputy sheriff in California. While on assignment in Mexico for four years, he was on the trail of the country’s biggest marijuana and cocaine traffickers. He was getting close to exposing a multi-billion dollar drug pipeline in 1985, until he was kidnapped that February. He was headed to lunch with his wife when he was last seen being thrown into a van by masked men, his body wasn’t discovered until a month later.

After his death, “Camarena Clubs” were launched in his hometown of Calexico, California. Hundreds wore red ribbons and pledged to lead a drug-free life in his honor. Then President Ronald Reagan was in office, so club members presented a proclamation to First Lady Nancy Reagan which brought it national attention. The campaign became official in 1988 by the National Family Partnership with President Reagan and “Just Say No” creator Mrs. Reagan as honorary chairpersons. Red Ribbon Week is celebrated annually from October 23-31st.
