Help us welcome our kindergarteners with the first spirit week of the year - Color Spirit Week!.
There is no school on Wednesday, October 5, in honor of Yom Kippur, a religious fasting holiday for our Jewish community members and the final day of Rosh Hashanah.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow! The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance web page for tips and strategies.
Advanced Academics
This quarter our critical and creative thinking lessons have focus on Visualization. This skill focuses on consciously forming a mental image of something that is not actually present. Students use sensory information to stimulate their imagination. This skill can be used to help students set goals by allowing them to visualize a plan to achieve their goals. Visualization can also be used in reading to help deepen comprehension and empathy. It can also be used in mathematics to visualize the problem and help solve it.
At Home Connection: Have students set a goal and create a poster about it. Visualize the elements that they need to reach their goal. What steps will they take to get to their goal? Include these steps on the poster. After completing the poster, snap a picture and tag @Mrs_TropeAART, #BMPaap or share it with me at cjtrope@fcps.edu. I can’t wait to see your creations!

Hi Families! Every year, each school must have a committee of parents and teachers who are willing to review challenged materials. When a book is challenged, part of the process involves parents and teachers reading the book and sharing their recommendations about the book with FCPS. We are looking for one or two parents who are NOT FCPS employees, who would be available to be part of this committee. If interested, please email Christine Watson at clwatson@fcps.edu. We appreciate your support!
From September 15 to October 15, FCPS recognizes and celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of the members of our community whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
