Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, begins at sundown on Tuesday, October 4. Tuesday is noted as a ½ religious/cultural observance date on the FCPS calendar. (On a ½ O day, certain activities may not occur after school.)
Wednesday, October 5, is a holiday for teachers and students.
Looking Ahead: Indigenous Peoples’ Day, October 10
Indigenous Peoples' Day honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Native peoples, past and present. This year, Monday, October 10, is a student holiday and staff development day. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.
October 2 is Custodian Appreciation Day. Clermont would like to extend a great big THANK YOU to our custodial team Agnes Owusu Bempah, Jessica Lopez, Dina Mendoza, Thin Vo, and Abdul Ismaili. Their hard work ensures that we all have a clean, safe place to learn, teach, and work.
On Friday, October 28th students are invited to dress as their favorite book character! We can't wait to see your costumes! Please: no scary costumes, costume masks and face coverings (except masks worn to prevent the spread of respiratory illness), and absolutely no toy weapons.
Students are encouraged to bring a book to school with them on October 28th that shows the character they are dressing up as, so they can talk about this book with their teachers and classmates!

Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child later in life. It’s a good habit to build now to help them graduate from college on time and routinely report to work on time once they have a career.
Take a look at the FCPS Calendar. Try to ensure that any trips or family events are on weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students who are absent 10 percent of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered “chronically absent.”
When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or appointment, you must report the absence to the school. Clermont absences may be reported on our website, or by calling 703-921-2424.
Visit the FCPS Attendance webpage for resources on attendance.
Many families have yet to complete their Digital Resources Consent and the SR&R Signature Sheet. Students will not be able to participate in activities utilizing many technology resources in class without the digital consent completed, and students will not be permitted to attend field trips without the SR&R signature completed. If you have not yet completed either of these, please follow the instructions below today.
SR&R Signature Sheet: FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). Please log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R, or print out the SR&R signature sheet and return it to the school. Signatures are due by September 30
Digital Resources Consent: Please complete the Digital Resources Consent online as soon as possible. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent on the Clermont website. You can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources.
