Shanah tovah to our Jewish community celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year! Meaning “head of the year,” Rosh Hashanah is one of Judaism’s holiest days and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection that ends with Yom Kippur.

Student Rights & Responsibility Booklet

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/caregiver with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/caregiver’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30.

Visit the SIS Parentvue Account Overview page for help logging in to your account. Please contact us at 703-277-1400, if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

Bull Run Elementary Attains Full Accreditation Status

vdoe

After two years of accreditation waivers for all Virginia schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) reinstated review of school performance based on 2021-22 student outcomes. Bull Run Elementary is fully accredited for 2022-23 as a result of this review. No Fairfax County public schools received a status of “accreditation denied.”

For 2022-23, school accreditation designations are based on school quality measures for:

  • Academic achievement (English, mathematics, and science).
  • Academic achievement gaps (English and mathematics).
  • A graduation and completion index (GCI).
  • Dropout rates.

School quality indicators receive a rating of performance level one (meets or exceeds state standard or sufficient improvement), two (near state standard or sufficient improvement), or three (below state standard).

For 2022-23 ratings based on 2021-22 outcomes, Bull Run Elementary received the following performance level ratings:

  • LEVEL 1 in English achievement.
  • LEVEL 1 in mathematics achievement.
  • LEVEL 1 in science achievement.
  • LEVEL 1 in the English achievement gap.
  • LEVEL 1 in the mathematics achievement gap.
  • LEVEL 1 in the GCI.
  • LEVEL 1 in the dropout rate.

Virginia School Quality Profiles offer a listing of overall accreditation status by school on the Fairfax County Public Schools division report. You may find detailed information about our schools’ data and outcomes for each quality indicator by selecting [SCHOOL NAME] from this division listing. School details can also be found through the Virginia School Quality Profiles search page. You will see chronic absenteeism performance reported here, as well, but this indicator is not part of Virginia accreditation ratings this year.
