fence

We are asking your help in better securing our gates on school days while students are in classes on campus.

You may notice this cord on our gates. As you walk the Crossfield campus, if you see a gate open please close it and reconnect the bungee. If the bungee cord is missing let Barbara Fant (bdfant@fcps.edu) know.

We truly appreciate the community support of this effort.

Portrait of a Graduate

Across FCPS and at Crossfield we prioritize the development of Portrait of a Graduate skills that will empower students to be productive citizens of a global community and successful in the workforce of the future. These skills are categorized within the attributes of Communicator, Collaborator, Ethical & Global Citizen, Creative & Critical Thinker, and Goal-directed & Resilient Individual. In each classroom, students will learn about the skills, including what they look like and why they are important. They will apply the skills while learning. Students will reflect on how the skills helped them find success and what they can do to grow. How can you help? Ask questions that encourage your child to talk more deeply about their day. These questions will lead to specific answers of what they really did and how they did it!

Virginia Growth Assessment

State assessments measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills reflected in state standards and may also be used to measure growth in learning state standards. Crossfield’s 3rd-6th students will take the Virginia Growth Assessments (VGA) standardized tests in reading and mathematics on September 21st and 30th. More information is available on the VGA webpage (https://www.fcps.edu/node/43932). The Grade Level Tests webpage (https://www.fcps.edu/student-assessment/grade-level-tests) provides information by grade level about the general assessment schedule and reporting method for each required assessment type in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).  Please contact your child’s teacher or our school test coordinator, Lea Fadden, if you have questions.

Covid Case Manager

Crossfield has a Covid Case Manager this school year, Ms. Stefanie Ragano.  You may include her on emails alerting Crossfield that your child has tested positive. Ms. Ragano will communicate with families with the official letter and a timeline for returning to school for covid-positive students. Ms. Ragano’s email is skragano@fcps.edu.
