LCES Updates, 09/19/22: Fun Fit Fridays Registration Now Open & Fun Run Recap

Fun Fit Fridays Registration is now open and runs start Friday, September 30

Fun Fit Fridays

Registration is Now Open

We are excited to invite you and your child(ren) to our run/walk program, Fun Fit Fridays (or F3).  Students in all grade levels (K-6) are welcome to participate, as well as parents and teachers!

Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to meet on the Lees Corner track to run/walk laps on Friday mornings from 8:10-8:35 AM. If a student is not running/walking in the program, he or she should not arrive at school earlier than 8:35 AM

Fun Fit Fridays is a token reward program. Each student-participant has his/her laps tracked as well as the total mileage over the course of the year.

Students run/walk as many laps as possible in the 25-minute time period every Friday morning. After a student completes one lap around the track, an adult scans the student’s card. Each completed running card totals 30 laps, or 5 miles. Students receive a foot token upon completion of 5 miles. After 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles, students receive a number token representing the miles completed.

This is an excellent opportunity for your children to meet new friends, enjoy the benefits of running/walking, and develop an appreciation for fitness. We hope this program builds self-confidence and improves fitness levels among our students and within the community. Everyone is welcome to join us!

The first session of Fun Fit Friday will begin on Friday, September 30 and go through Friday, December 9.

The second session of Fun Fit Friday will begin on March 10 and run through June 2. If it is raining or the track is too muddy, then F3 we will be cancelled for that Friday.

If your child(ren) would like to participate, please return the completed form linked here to your child’s teacher by September 28. This form is for both the fall and spring sessions.

Asha-Jyothi Fun Run Recap

It was a beautiful day for a Fun Run and fundraiser. The weather was perfect and we loved seeing so many LCES families and faces out taking purposeful steps in support of the Asha-Jyothi organization while helping raise money for Lees Corner!

There were some very special guests in the crowd to include Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Reid; Chantilly HS principal, Dr. Scott Poole; Franklin Middle School principal, Dustin Wright; Greenbriar West principal, Andrew Blount and GBW assistant principal, Jordan Cook; Stella Pekarsky, Sully District representative on the Fairfax County School Board, our LCES administrative team, principal VaRonica Sloan and assistant principal, Laura Tapper; and LCES teachers Miki Citron, Tara Hagy, and Anna Hines.

CONGRATULATIONS to all the participants!

A BIG THANK YOU goes to LCES parent, Nicholle Pitera, for serving as our contact person for this event and doing everything necessary to make this event successful for our school!
