We shared some of our many celebrations with our staff when they came back from summer break and we also shared them at the PTA meeting last week. We wanted to share out some of the many academic celebrations from the past school year:
- Preliminary rates for Spring 2022 indicate that Forestville ES is Level 1 in English, Math and Science (Level 1 is the highest level a school can achieve)
- We are also Level 1 in English Achievement Gap and Math Achievement Gap
- Forestville’s current year pass rate for the Reading and Math SOL, is higher than the cumulative 3-year rate (to include before covid years). This includes multiple subgroups!
- There was a 25% increase in the pass rate on the Reading SOL for English Learners (ELs) in the Spring of ‘22, as compared to the Spring of ‘19.
- For our Students with Disabilities - our current rate was higher in English and Math, as compared to our 3-year rate (to include before covid years) in English and Math
- We also want to celebrate all of the hard and wonderful work that took place with our ESSER and Summer SOAR programs!
A big shout goes to our amazing Forestville staff for all of their hard work that went into these celebrations. We also want to thank our wonderful parent community for their support and partnership as well!
The 2022-2023 Student Rights and Responsibilities document explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable and supportive school environment. We ask that you use this document as a framework for discussing these expectations with your child or teen so that he or she is well prepared for success when the school year begins. You will also find that this publication includes information that you may need throughout the school year, including contact numbers and other resources. This document is available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Information is available on the VGA webpage. The Grade Level Tests webpage provides information by grade level about the general assessment schedule and reporting method for each required assessment type in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). Please contact your child’s teacher or our school test coordinator, Afton Carlson, if you have questions.
The School Board has approved a screener to review students’ skills and experiences in these areas. FCPS staff will use the screener to identify strengths and needs for students in grades K-12.
All students in grades K-12 will participate in the screener twice a year, in the fall and spring. For students in grades K-2, teachers will complete a survey on their observations of students' skills and experiences. Students in grades 3-12 will reflect and report on their own skills and experiences. S
Parents have the right to opt their children out of taking this screener. For more information regarding this screener and access to the Opt-out form, click here. If you have already filled out the Opt-out form, that came home in the first Tuesday folder on 8/23/2022 you do not need to follow out another form.
If you would like to report a change in your child's method of transportation for the day please use our online "Change in Transportation" form. The Change of Transportation Form can be located on the Forestville school website. It will allow for quick and easy notification to students and staff. Changes must be submitted by 12:00 PM daily in order to allow adequate time for our office staff to distribute the forms to teachers and students before dismissal each day. More information about changes in transportation along with information about Forestville's arrival and dismissal procedures can be found in our family handbook.
