Principal Message 

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We hope you are enjoying these last beautiful days of summer as we turn our calendars to fall this week.  This time of year brings many  opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with the change of seasons.  We hope you will join us this Friday evening at 5:30 pm for the Fall Family Picnic.  The PTA has planned an evening filled with fun activities for all, including an opportunity for  students to show kindness to others as we continue our #ONEKindActVienna campaign.

Safety at arrival and dismissal continues to be a top priority.  Please follow all dismissal policies, including not parking in the cul de sacs along Marshall Road.  This is a route for many of our walkers and we want to make sure they are safe when walking across the the cul de sacs entrances.  Please speak to your children who are walking up Marshall Road in the afternoons.  Students need to walk, not run, to maximize safety.  We appreciate your help in keeping everyone safe.

Please remember to pack a snack for your children each day.  Students are working hard at school and they get hungry!  We appreciate all the parents who are sending in snacks for their children and those who have provided extra for those who forget.  Thank you for partnering with us!

There will be no school for students next Monday, September 26 as it is a Teacher Workday for our staff.

Attendance

It is extremely important for Parents and Guardians to contact the school to report a child’s absence as well as the reason for the absence.  Parents may call the Attendance Line at 703-937-1515, use the online attendance form or email MarshallRoadElem.Attendance@fcps.edu.  Excessive unexcused absences will trigger attendance protocols within the school setting as well as conferences with school counselors and administrators to create an individualized attendance plan.

Parent Digital Resources Consent Form 

Every student must have parental consent BEFORE they can use certain digital resources.  To provide your parental consent for each student in your family, please use this link and follow the provided directions.  This can also be done from your ParentVue account when you log in.  Click here for more information, including the list of digital resources used at Marshall Road.

PTA Update

Join the MRES Bike Train This Week  

The Marshall Road Bike Train will kick off this Tuesday, September 20.  The Bike Train departs Meadow Lane Park at 8:45 am. Come early and get your bike tires pumped up with air.  You can also join us on the fly when we pass your street!     

Adult volunteers will be riding to chaperone the entire trip, morning and afternoon.  Riders must have a helmet and be comfortable riding a two-wheel bike on neighborhood roads.  Everyone who participates will receive new bike safety equipment and a bike lock.  Please visit our PTA website and follow the SignUp Genius link if you would like to volunteer.  

Enrichments Start this Week!  Enrollment is Still Open for Fitness Warriors!  

Before school enrichments start this week.  We still have space in our Fitness Warriors classes if you’d like to join Mr. Clancy for a fun and energizing morning!  You can view the class descriptions and register on our enrichment website.  Email Cheryl (enrichment@marshallroadpta.org) with questions.  

Save the Date for Marshall Road’s Fall Family Picnic  

Join us on Friday, September 23, 5:30-7:30 pm for our Fall Family Picnic!  This is a chance to enjoy time together with the Marshall Road community.  We will have music by School of Rock, food for sale from the Roaming Coyote, 7 Starr Wings, Ben & Jerry’s, and activities for the students.  This event will be held outdoors on the fields behind the school.  All are welcome!

Dining 4 Dollars Returns on Wednesday, September 28 at The Sandwich Shop!

Glow Dodgeball PTA Fundraiser at InCourage Martial Arts Fairfax  

InCourage Martial Arts Fairfax is having a Glow Dodgeball event exclusively for Marshall Road students.  Space is limited. 100% of proceeds go to the Marshall Road PTA!  Highlights: glow dodgeball, glow sticks, a craft and pizza dinner!  Please bring a water bottle, white shirt and non-slip socks.  The event is Friday, September 30, 6:30-8:30 pm.  Cost is $35 per child.  Register here.  Details can be found in this flyer.
