Kindergarten iPads

All smiles from our kindergarten foxes as they explore ST Math on their FCPS iPads.

Willow Springs families,

It has been a fantastic week with our foxes! We are thrilled to welcome back the student-athletes from the George Mason softball team. This adopt-a-school partnership began last year with limited interaction due to COVID-19 restrictions; however, we are excited to have the team visiting our students this year. This week, some of our foxes met two of the players, made strong connections, shared their writing, and played math games during their visit. We are excited to have more players visiting next week!

Thank you to all families participating in the Asha-Jyothi 14th Annual 5K Run/Walk. This morning's proceeds will go towards STEAM resources and opportunities at WSES.

Remember to keep up with the latest news and information in our News You ChooseWSES websiteand WSES Family Schoology course.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sincerely,

Dylan Taylor, Principal

Lesley Hassen, Assistant Principal

Ipsa Stringer, Assistant Principal

What's Happening at Willow Springs?

Stough GMU

Ms. Stough's 5th-grade students shared their writing with George Mason's softball player Zoe Vozick. Students had opportunities to make connections with Zoe during their time together.

Miskovich GMU

GMU softball player Maggie Mrowka joined 5th-graders in Ms. Miskovich's class for some fun and engaging math games. A powerful partnership with the GMU Softball Team is happening at WSES.

Kinder iPads

Ms. Mukherjee's kindergarteners explored ST Math and shared their excitement. We are eager to see how else our youngest foxes will use their devices this year.

SR&R Signature Sheet Due September 30

SR&R Image

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/caregiver with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/caregiver’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30.

Visit the SIS Parentvue Account Overview page for help logging in to your account. Please contact us at 703-679-6000, if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

When Should My Child Stay Home?

Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.

Help your student succeed by encouraging them to miss as few days as possible. However, do make sure your student stays home if they are sick. So when should your child stay home? Visit our site for helpful ideas regarding absences and how to work with your child and your school.

If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify the main office at 703-679-6000, so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with your school public health nurse, and call the school as soon as you know your child will be absent and tell school staff why and for how long.

Attend today, Achieve Tomorrow!
