FAQ about Homecoming Week Sep. 19-24
What is Homecoming? Homecoming, or HOCO for short, is a spirit week which concludes with a parade and a home football game on Friday and a school dance on Saturday night. Traditionally, alumni attend the “Homecoming” football game to see old friends.
How Can My Student Participate? All FHS students are encouraged to participate in the parade and enjoy the tailgate and football game. Your student may choose to walk with their class (’23, ’24, ’25 or ‘26), their sports team, Chorus or Band or other activities and clubs at FHS. Students can also dress for Spirit Week:
- 9/19 Minion Monday
- 9/20 Adam Sandler Day
- 9/21 Country vs Country Club
- 9/22 Hawaiian Tourist Day
- 9/23 Class Colors (Freshman white, Sophomores gray, Juniors blue, Seniors black)
- 9/26 After HOCO Pajama Day.
How can I watch the Parade? Come early and bring the whole family! The parade is held at on Old Lee Road starting near Historic Blenheim and returning to parking lot in front of the school. Lion Run and Old Lee will be closed by police around 3:30pm so allow time to park and walk to the parade route. (There is usually CANDY for the crowd.)
What happens on Friday? Students have a pep rally at the end of the school day on Friday and are released at the normal time. They have time to finalize their float decorations and gather in the parking lot at the bottom of Old Post Road for the Parade to start at 4pm. The parade ends in the school parking lot where the community is invited to tailgate and enjoy the food trucks and activities near door 21. Gates to the stadium open at 6pm and kickoff is at 7pm. FHS Chorus students will sing the national anthem. The homecoming court will be introduced at halftime. Many students stay after school through the end of the football game to enjoy all the festivities!
What happens on Saturday? All FHS students are invited to the Homecoming Dance outside door 21 from 8-11pm or for those who prefer not to dance, come inside to watch the Jumanji movie. Students must pre-purchase homecoming dance/movie tickets during lunch or on myschoolbucks.com. They’re available on blue days this week for $20 at the table on Mane Lane (outside the auditorium) and every day next week for $25. Students must provide their name, grade and student ID number for each ticket, and may purchase a guest ticket for a date from another school by completing a form signed by both schools’ principals.
How can I help? Adult volunteers are needed during the Homecoming parade and dance. There are three ways you can assist:
- If you have a Jeep, convertible, or truck, you'd be willing to drive in the parade between 3:30 and 4:30 pm on Friday, September 23rd, please fill out the following google form: https://forms.gle/npwCzBaDV6hTfhNeA
- If you are willing to be a course marshal and monitor an intersection along the parade route between 3:30 and 4:30 pm on Friday, September 23rd (no training or prior experience needed), please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4dada622a3fac16-homecoming
- If you are willing to be a dance chaperone on Saturday, September 24thduring one of our two shifts – 8:00 to 9:30 pm OR 9:30 to 11:00 pm, please sign up here:
