Fairfax Academy Community,
We hope the first few weeks of school have gone well and that all of our students are settling into their new routine with great success. We have enjoyed getting to know many of our students in the halls and classrooms and look forward to more opportunities to hear about their dreams and interests over the next few weeks.
A few reminders:
- All students who attend one of our feeder schools were given a turquoise Fairfax Academy lanyard. This allows students to gain access to Fairfax High School and assists school faculty and staff in identifying our students from other schools while on campus at Fairfax High School. Please help us by reminding your student to wear their Academy lanyard when coming and going.
- Parking enforcement has begun. All students who need to park at Fairfax Academy, must have an Academy parking pass. Please see below for more details.
- All FCPS families must give consent for digital resources used by schools. Please see information below about how to complete the Digital Resource Consent for your Academy student.
We are doing one final push for Academy Spirit Wear - please see below for a link to the order form. Our Dance and MTAS students kick-off our performances with the City of Fairfax National Dance Day performance on Saturday and the MTAS Sparkplug Showcase next Thursday. See more details below.
Wishing everyone a fantastic week!
Students who drive to Fairfax Academy must apply for an Academy parking tag. Print out and submit the Parking Tag Application and Agreement to the Academy office during regular school hours. For more information, please visit https://fairfaxacademy.fcps.edu/resources/transportation.
If you have any questions about transportation or parking, please contact the Academy Office at 703-219-2226.
Some of the digital resources your student may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. To ensure that the use of these digital resources in classroom instruction is not delayed, we ask that families review the policies regarding digital resources, the list of approved digital resources, and have the enrolling parent or guardian sign the digital resource consent form. Please note that your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your consent.
Fairfax Academy teachers use a variety of digital resources to support student learning that promote communication and collaboration both with students and families. You can find our school specific list of resources that require parental consent at https://fairfaxacademy.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources, and more general information about approved digital resources in FCPS at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources. These pages provide more information regarding the careful review process FCPS uses for digital resource approval and why your consent is necessary.
If you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we are using this year, please contact Tim Brown (twbrown@fcps.edu).
If you have any questions about Academy Spirit Wear, please contact Academy Administrative Assistant Sarah Tarvid (starvid@fcps.edu).
The Fairfax Academy Dance Program will perform at the City of Fairfax National Dance Day event this Saturday, September 17 at 1:15pm at Old Town Square. Check out the city calendar for more details.
Next week our MTAS seniors take to the stage in the Sparkplug Showcase with elements of their college audition packages.
Both events are free to the public.
Please contact Dance Director, Meredith Barnes (mbarnes@fcps.edu) or MTAS Director, Erich Dicenzo (erdicenzo@fcps.edu) with questions about the programs or events.
