We are a family.
We are capable.
We are caring.
We all belong!
Thank you to all of the parents who joined us in person and virtually for Friday's Coffee & Conversations. These are monthly events hosted by our Family Liaison, Sandra Chetelat, and the administrative team.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow! The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance web page for tips and strategies.
Our Mustang artists have been doing a great job so far learning art room routines and creating in different ways. Multi-age artists have spent time learning routines and painting school bus collages. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade artists have been spending time painting over the last few weeks. We have used famous artists as inspiration and made a variety of paintings to learn how to use the paint stations, care for our paintbrushes, keep the area neat, and what to do when we are finished. 2nd grade artists are creating large community farm paintings. We learned that artists make plans before painting to get their ideas together. 3rd grade artists are learning to blend paint and create a sense of near and far in a painting showing what they like to do for fun outside. 4th grade artists learned about narrative art and how we can use art to tell a story. They created their own story using a storyboard and are creating a 3-part collage to tell their story. 5th graders are learning about contour line drawings. We are creating a large-scale contour line drawing of an object of their choice, making compositional choices and adding a background design. Ultimately, they will paint the background. They are learning brush control and painting routines as well.
We can always use donations in the art room. Right now, we really need baby wipes (for hands) and can always use donations of yarn or beads. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Families! Every year, each school must have a committee of parents and teachers who are willing to review challenged materials. When a book is challenged, part of the process involves parents and teachers reading the book and sharing their recommendations about the book with FCPS. We are looking for one or two parents who are NOT FCPS employees, who would be available to be part of this committee. If interested, please email Christine Watson at clwatson@fcps.edu. We appreciate your support!
There are a variety of forms for families to review, sign and return to the school at the beginning of the year. Please help us out by ensuring these are returned to your child's classroom teacher as soon as possible!
